21.01.2022 FINALS UPDATE. Div 2 saw Falcons take on Tigers Blue in the Preliminary final. Tigers Blue got an early jump and put up some quick runs on the board to take a lead. The game then was a bit of an arm wrestle for the next few innings, before the Falcons hitters came alive taking charge adding more runs to the board and eventually taking the game in a mercy run rule victory which will see them take on USC Navy in next week's Grand Final. A good effort and season for the Tigers ...Blue team who are only in their second season. Looks like a strong future for the Tigers club. Div 1 Finals saw Demons take on Gold Gloves in a repeat of two weeks ago. In this game it was Demons who came out swinging the bats scoring early runs. Gold Gloves put a few runs back on the board before Demons took hold of the game winning with mercy run rule in the 4th which now sees them take on Minor Premier Hillbillies in the Grand Final. Div 2 Grand Final USC Navy v Falcons 11am Div 1 Grand Final Hillbillies v Demons 1pm (or 45 mins after end of 1st game due to presentations of Div 2 Grand Final) Presentations of Association awards will be conducted in the club rooms for both 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons after the completion of Div 1 Grand Final presentations.

18.01.2022 Due to further recommendations from SSA and following the recommendations from Softball Australia, we as the Executive Committee have decided to cancel the rest of our season. We make this decision for the safety and well-being of all of our Players, Officials and Supporters and feel that it is the best outcome for the Association now and in future seasons. Due to no Grand Finals being able to be played, as there is no bylaw or information in the Constitution for this process..., there will be no Premierships awarded for Season 2019/2020. Stay tuned for other award winners. Thank you all again for being patient over the last few days and hopefully we will see you all ready to go next season. Your President Bodie Williams

05.01.2022 FINALS UPDATE. For the first time in NAMSA History we have a Div 3 Premier. Congrats to Phantoms. It was a very tight game til the final inning which saw Phantoms take the victory over Tigers Black. Well done to both teams on a well fought out season and to the Tigers Black team which was made up as a development team who got better and better with each game they played. Hoping to see big things from both these teams in the future.... Div 2 saw another development team of the last few seasons USC Red take on Tigers Blue in an elimination final. Tigers Blue were the stronger team on the day which saw them take the win and move on to next week's final against Falcons. Another solid season by the younger of the two teams from USC. Can't wait to see what you've got for us next season. The top of the ladder clash between Minor Premiers USC Navy and Falcons saw Navy take the win and move onto the Div 2 Grand Final in two weeks. With the loss Falcons will now take on Tigers Blue this week for a shot at the Grand Final against USC Navy. Div 1 Finals saw Gold Gloves take on Tigers Gold in the elimination final. In a close game til the end which saw Gold Gloves winand move on to next week's final with Demons. A competitive season by Tigers Gold which saw them push Minor Premier Hillbillies to a draw and also a convincing win over Demons. Hopefully all of you will be back next season to have another crack at the title. . In the other final of the day which had Minor Premier Hillbillies take on Demons for a place in the Grand Final. In another very close arm wrestle of a game it was Hillbillies that took the win and move on to the Grand Final in two weeks, and left Demons to face Gold Gloves for the other spot in the Grand Final. Div 2 Preliminary Final Falcons v Tigers Blue 11am Div 1 Preliminary Final Demons v Gold Gloves 1pm (or 30 mins after end of 1st game)

05.01.2022 VICTORY IN THE HEAT FOR HILLS AND NAMSA IN SOFTBALL'S COUNTRY CHAMPIOINSHIPS. By Robert Laidlaw Hills was a surprise winner of the final in the women's A grade ...division of the State Country Softball Championships, beating Adelaide 4-3, while in the men's final, NAMSA also was an upset victor, beating Hills 6-4 to take the title. Over the preliminary rounds of the women’s A grade, Adelaide was undefeated and raging favourites in the final, while Hills had to battle through a preliminary final against Mount Gambier to make the gold medal game. Batting first, Hills started well when lead-off batter Bron Pendleton walked and stole second base, but with the next two batters out, it looked like she would be stranded, except Chantelle Lewis hit a RBI single, followed by Alex Mackay’s RBI triple, for a 2-0 opening. Adelaide responded in the bottom of the first inning with three runs, on Bel White’s two-run home run, followed by Emily Cattuzzo triple and Megan Williams RBI double. A scoreless second dig saw the game continue in the 40+ heat with scoring at a premium, although Hills rose to the occasion for a pair of runs at the top of the third to hit the front Lewis hit a RBI triple and continued home after an error on the play. Time was running out for Adelaide as it went to bat for the final attempt, in the bottom of the fourth. Emily Dolphin led off by reaching on an error, and Madi Matschke singled, but Dolphin was caught in a run down between second and third bases, and was tagged out sliding into third. Zoe Thomson laid down a safe bunt, but the next two batters hit to shortstop Abi Jorgensen, who retired two advancing runners for side, for Hills to win the championship. Not only was Lewis the leading batter with two hits, two runs and two RBIs, she pitched the complete game, surrendering six hits for two strikeouts. * * * * * The men’s final looked done and dusted after two innings, when Hills scored three times in the bottom of the second dig, and with Australian pitcher Jarryd Farrell toeing the rubber, it looked a forgone conclusion. Kris McLeod had walked, Corey Nesbitt singled and teenager Axel Westren-Schapel smashed a three-run home run to pace Hills. But NAMSA managed to surge ahead in unlikely fashion at the top of the third dig. Scott Humphrys singled, Adrian Philp doubled, and, after an out, Brett Tyler loaded the bases with a walk. A strike out was followed by Dylan Child’s bases-clearing hit that was dropped in the outfield. Then, to add salt to the wounds, Bodie Williams smashed a two-run home run to put NAMSA 5-3 up of interest, Dylan’s father Jim Child and Bodie’s dad Barry Williams were softball team-mates in 1990 with Panthers in the NAMSA competition with the author! Hills fought back in the bottom of the third when Dan Waters hit a RBI double to close the gap to a single run. Through the bottom of the third, a high fly ball was hit along the first base line, with first baseman Sam Paturis managing to hold onto the out despite a collision with catcher Williams, and was a little groggy afterwards. But in the top of the fourth, Paturis showed he was fine, as he hit a long fly ball over the rightfielder’s head, and the fence, for a home run 6-4 NAMSA. Hills could not respond in the bottom of the fourth and final frame. Humphrys pitched four innings for three hits and six K2s to outduel Farrell, who conceded five hits for six strikeouts in taking the loss. It was a double celebration for Scott Humphrys, who not only pitched the winning game in the men’s final but coached the Hills’ women to their title, with his ‘baby’ sister Chantelle Lewis claiming the win in that game. In the home run derby, Bel White took home the women’s trophy, while Cooper Goodman went back-to-back in the men. Tournament MVPs were won by Harry May (Hills) and Hayden Johns (U16 Boys) in men, while the Kath Sims Memorial Trophy in the women’s comp went to Mount Gambier’s Georgia Hood. * * * * * RESULTS: A GRADE WOMEN Hills 2 0 2 0 4 Adelaide 3 0 0 0 3 (hits: Hills Lewis 2, Mackay, Ween; Adelaide Thomson 2, White (hr), Cattuzzo, Williams, Matschke.
