21.01.2022 I’ve been trying to allow myself to soften inwards. To read, walk, listen and observe. To keep grounded without being hyper productive. These past few weeks have provided an opportunity to examine parts of myself, and aspects of my life, that have been actively avoiding. I’m sure, like me, you’ve also been questioning your ways of being and facing little parts of yourself you’ve been avoiding. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Let’s work towards naming and describing ho...w we want to live, how we want to feel and the things we want to spend our time doing. Here’s a passage I discovered this week by the wonderful writer #rebeccasolnit, via the On Being podcast - thank you @____ninka___ for sharing. What can be measured almost always takes precedence over what cannot: private profit over public good; speed and efficiency over enjoyment and quality; the utilitarian over the mysteries and meanings that are of greater use to our survival and to more than our survival, to lives that have some purpose and value that survive beyond us to make a civilization worth having. The tyranny of the quantifiable is partly the failure of language and discourse to describe more complex, subtle, and fluid phenomena, as well as the failure of those who shape opinions and make decisions to understand and value these slipperier things. 20.01.2022 I miss the visceral exchange of being in the same space. I miss the option bringing awareness through gentle touch. I miss the sound of your body in motion.... I miss the resonance of being. Until we can be together in one space, let’s come together in multiple. Join me on Sunday at 10am ADL time for an hour of togetherness via @movementhalo

19.01.2022 Class update: we are moving towards online classes. Please be patient with yoga studios and teachers as we navigate new (ish) territory. I’ll have an update with online class details within a week or so. If you are a student of mine, please remember that everything we have been working on in our sessions, you can do at home. My intention as a teacher/facilitator is to empower you, educate you and give you the skills to practice anywhere, anytime. Sometimes it’s easy to take o...ur knowledge and experience for granted. Trust that you know more than you might think. The key to a home practice is our ability to hold space for ourselves, stay present to each breath and remain curious as to how things feel. Also, keep it simple! If you’re new to practicing at home, don’t make it overwhelmingly complex. It’s ok to be intuitive and creative. You are ultimately your own teacher, listen to what you and your bodymind needs. If you can, create a space in your house or bedroom that you feel good in. Light a candle or burn some oils/incense. Bring in some nature: a sprig of rosemary or an indoor plant, for example. Music can also be really useful. I’m going to share some of my playlists in my story posts. Yesterday I had one of my favourite home practices to date listening to @kiasmos_ with the windows open. If having a break from yoga classes is how it plays out, know that that is totally ok. Yoga is so much more than movements on a mat. Bring your ability to stay centred and present with you, as best you can, into each arising situation. All my love to you and I look forward to connecting with you online some more, if that’s an avenue you choose to explore. Sending love to all my teaching friends and colleagues. If there is anything I can do to support you, please get in touch.

18.01.2022 When I remain open to it, the experience of yoga, like all things, is constantly evolving. Lately I’ve been engaging with quite a strong practice. The energy is there so I’m trying to get out of the way and let it move me, as it moves through me. Join me for a dynamic, slow flow tomorrow morning at 10am via @movementhalo

14.01.2022 Hello friends who practice with me at Cosmic Yoga Studio, I want to say thank you so much for coming to class and being so receptive and responsive to what I’ve been offering within Slow Flow on Tuesday nights. So that I can have have some more restorative time in my week, I’m passing the baton to the wonderful Rachel who will be leading a new class called Attune.... Attune is a non-heated, 20/20/20 style practice which incorporates a dynamic vinyasa flow, yin and yoga nidra/meditation. Tomorrow evening will be my last offering Cosmic on a Tuesday. I’ll still be teaching the 8am foundations class on Saturday morning and will be taking covers when I am able to. Thanks to Inese, Bianca and Tash at Cosmic for being so supportive and understanding. All my love, Naomi . . . Thanks for the photo Rosina

11.01.2022 Yoga has been integral to the ongoing process of (my) self understanding, self acceptance and self celebration. Through my yoga studies I’ve found the space and freedom to figure out what I truly, deeply care about. Creativity and connection are two of those things. Music, in my experience, is a glorious bridge between creativity and connection. Today I release a new song into the world. The song is called ‘Travelling Woman’ and you can find it on all the streaming platforms.... Sending love to my Embodied Flow kula. Embodied Flow has been instrumental in the process of realising the potency of creativity. Through the EF teachings I’ve let go of being coy and shy about my music practice. I feel significantly less concerned about ‘taking up space’. I feel more comfortable with who I am, what I have to offer and in sharing that freely. Whatever you’re longing to do, let that come through. Listen in and follow the impulse. Let your practice support you in whatever is it you are doing now and whoever it is you are becoming. I’m sending love out to each of you. I hope that whatever you’re doing, wherever you are that, you feel like your true, essential self x

10.01.2022 A little message to let you know that classes are continuing as per usual. The studios I work at are making every effort to keep their yoga rooms clean and safe. If you feel like practicing I’ll be leading a class at @movementhalo tomorrow 10-11:30am. We know that stress is not good for our immune systems, so please do whatever you need to do for yourself to stay calm and connected. Switch off your phones, get out in nature, use your mindfulness tools, be with your loved ones..., connect with your purpose. When we take care of ourselves, we have more capacity to take care of each other and contribute to the wellbeing of our communities at large. Yoga isn’t a selfish practice, it’s the opposite. It’s supporting us to be functional healthy individuals within our universal collective. When walls start going up and fear starts setting in, may we remember that we are all innately connected. We have more in common than we sometimes are aware of. Us and Them are binary constructs that serve only fear and separation. We are in this together and we are here for each other, beyond any boarders. Let resilience and connection be what we are moving towards. Sending love and care out to each of you, Naomi
