25.01.2022 I think some quilts are just made to have fun on. Freemotion feathers on elephants. Why not!

25.01.2022 Check out this amazing quilt by my new customer Mylee. This is Mylee's first ever quilt. She started piecing it last October and brought it to me for quilting in May. Can you believe that Mylee thought she was a bit slow getting this quilt top made? Mylee was not ready for the financial outlay of custom quilting so I quilted her stunning quilt with Darlene Epp's Feather Flower Pantograph. I love the way this pattern looks like giant background fill. This amazing quilt will no doubt take pride of place in Mylee's home.

24.01.2022 Just a couple of fishy friends quilted with Anita Shackelfords modern waves.

23.01.2022 The pattern on this quilt is called One Way Feathers and has been quilted as a edge to edge with every second row flipped so it mirrors the first row. This pattern will also be available as a border pattern with a matching corner. One Way Feathers will be available soon from Intelligent Quilting.

22.01.2022 I quilted this massive quilt for my customer Lisa in November. It has a combination of my I Dream of Feathers p2p paterns on it plus an extra swirl p2p pattern I made so that i could quilt the designs in the pieced block in a continuous motion. The borders on this quilt had some fullness to contend with and the feather border just sucked it all up.

22.01.2022 An oldie but a goodie. Need bugs anyone!

21.01.2022 My Elegant Stitch Quilting and Design email is currently down. Some unfortunate spam started to filter through my email and sadly it is currently blacklisted. My service providers are working hard for me to get this issue resolved and when my email is back up and running it will be upgraded so this nasty spam will get caught before it causes problems in the future. Silly me didnt even know there was different levels of email. I was wondering why my spam folder was always empty. If you need to get in touch please call direct or leave me a message here.

21.01.2022 Dont have backing for your quilt top? Having trouble finding backings for your projects with some shops shut? Ask me about our stock backings and also batting. You can still get your projects finished and have a sense of achievement. Something that is very important for looking after your mental health while isolated.

20.01.2022 Another pretty little quilt for my customer Lisa.

17.01.2022 My lovely customer Leeanne came to me with a disappearing nine patch quilt she made for her caravan. We could quite find a pattern with caravans to suit it so off to the drawing board i went. The new panto is called Woodland Holiday. Very fitting this time of year. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all.

17.01.2022 Sometimes it feels like months between the posts that I am making to my page and then I look at the last date that I made a post and I realize that it has been months! Its not that Im not busy quilting and designing patterns. Its that I am. Heres a few photos of some of my more recent work and thank you to my loyal followers that put up with my extreme randomness.

16.01.2022 A quilt for Helen

16.01.2022 So my web site is up and running. Please take a look and try not to be to critical. After all it is a newborn and I still have lots to add.

15.01.2022 The two quilts here are variations on a Irish Chain the blue and white was for my customer Cheryl. Cheryls quilt had a sashing inserted that split the chain and ment that it was not always continuous. I had to think outside the square when choosing the patterns for this quilt. I created the Dreaming Star pattern then removed a segment. Then dropped my Drifting Away block on point into the middle of the white space. The second quilt was for my customer Katie and features the Dreaming Star Block in its full form. Both patterns are available through Intelligent Quilting.

15.01.2022 It's been such a long time since I posted here and I must apologise. But this year has thrown me a few curve balls. My dad passed away suddenly earlier this year after a short battle with Pancreatic cancer and my enthusiasm for all things quilting waned as I came to terms with his passing. Also getting the time to quilt and design has been challenging whilst I am helping my step mum get my dads affaires in order. But in amongst all the tasks at hand I am getting a quilt or two finished and slowly getting my mojo back. Here's a fun quilt that I finished this morning for my dear customer Dawn. Life goes on and a nice bright fun quilt will always make me smile.

14.01.2022 Yay. For all who prefer a printable PDF for the Sunflowers are still Yellow at Night 2020 I-sew-lation quilt along click on the link below. http://www.theelegantstitch.com/sunflowers-are-still-yello/

13.01.2022 This is one of my latest patterns, "I Dream of Feathers Pantograph". I love the way this looks on this one fabric bargello quilt. This pattern and many more of my patterns are available at http://www.intelligentquilting.com/Digital-Quiltin/1919.htm

11.01.2022 I been a tad long since I have created a post here. So long in fact that many have been asking are you still quilting? And the answer is a resounding yes. Of course things are a bit different at the moment and we are all needing to make changes in our lives to comply with the rules and keep our loved ones safe. In the past I have enjoyed being able to invite you all into my home to consult on quilting and I hope to be able to do this again in the near future. But at this poi...nt in time it is not possible. Also because of travel restrictions you all can not drop off your quilts to me for now. I however can pick up your quilts and deliver them back when they are quilted. This helps us all to keep safe and play by the rules. The photo is just a reminder to always prewash your fabric if possible, as we are all busy at home making tops. Remember to slow down, enjoy the process and make quilts to be proud of when we all come out the other side of these complicated times. See more

10.01.2022 At the eleventh hour my customer Hellen brought me this quilt. Just one last e2e before Christmas. The pattern is Twigonometry and is available at Intelligent Quilting.

09.01.2022 I like this episode of Quilty. Great advise. Share if you to get quilts with funky borders. http://www.qnntv.com//1072_quilty-fan-tastic-squaring-up-/

09.01.2022 Some time ago I was minding my two nephews and I am always looking for new ideas and fun things for them to do when they are over. These two boys are 6 and 8 years old and full of energy. I got out some ready to dye cotton, sun dyes, markers and paper and we had a great day making sun dyed blocks. A few other family members got involved and the quilt below is the result of that day. The quilt is called "Masterpieces" and I gave it to my sister inlaw and her husband for Christmas. Its a great way to showcase a childs drawings for years to come and to get children involved in craft and quilting even if they cant sew yet. Children are naturally artistic so get them involved any way you can. You will love the results.

08.01.2022 Love this quirky little appliqued quilt. So fun to quilt.

08.01.2022 This pretty quilt is for Sandra. The background fill is one of my favorite fills to stitch out. These blocks had a lot of fullness and the fill just ate it up.

08.01.2022 2020 I-sew-lation quilt along Sunflowers are still yellow at night Block B Welcome back fellow quilters. Im hope youve all had a great week and stayed safe. This week we are on to block B. 08.01.2022 My customer Lisa brought me this sweet little Snuggle Safari quilt to quilt and Lisa likes busy quilting. Just as well because I love to do "busy". So I created 9 new patterns for Lisas quilt and incorporated them into the background fill. The designs are called Wobbly Circles and will be available through Intelligent Quilting soon.

07.01.2022 Stepping Stones for Lorraine

06.01.2022 Its been such a long time since I posted here and I must apologise. But this year has thrown me a few curve balls. 06.01.2022 Regency Rose giant dahlia designed by Michelle Yeo and pieced by Lyn. This is the last custom quilt for 2015. I designed four new digital patterns for this quilt which I hope to have up for sale soon. Lyn made this quilt in a class with Michelle Yeo in November. I wanted to do the class but had other commitments at the time. I may just have to buy the patterns and make my own but next time Michelle Yeo is in town I am not missing out on great talent.

05.01.2022 I have fallen in love with Christmas quilting this year. I made these two table runners and small placemats with scraps of Christmas fabrics combined with some newly purchased fabrics for my wonderful inlaws this year. This is my first EQ foundation pieced design and I am very pleased with the results. The table runners looked great on the Christmas table and I am sure they will be enjoyed for many years to come.

05.01.2022 Hay lovely quilting family. Welcome to my 2020 I-sew-lation quilt along. Over the past few weeks I designed this quilt to help keep us busy at home, use some of our stash and lift our spirits. Over the next month each Saturday I will post details on how to create the three blocks contained in the quilt, then piecing and borders. The finished quilt will be 62 x 62 inches square. This quilt is inspired by Van Goghs starry night and Sunflowers. Its called Sunflowers are still... yellow at night. To remind us that although life is upside down at the moment some things will always be the same. Sunflowers are still yellow and you are still loved. I would love to see you all dive into your stash to create the quilt rather than go shopping. After all, it is an I-sew-lation quilt. You could go scrappy just remember to make sure that the contrast in fabrics is true to the pattern. You will need the following materials All fabrics are by width of fabric 112cm 70cm Fuchsia pink and purple 80cm yellow 100cm mid blue 100cm dark blue 50cm green Im using batiks purchased on my trip to Bali last year. Please join me. Post your photos in the comments and ask questions if you get stuck. Instructions are in the comments section for each photo. 04.01.2022 It is with great pleasure that I introduce my first raffle quilt "Carnival Constellation". The quilting is some of my best work to date and some lucky person is going to win this quilt for just two dollars

03.01.2022 Due to a faulty pit at the end of our street once again we have no landline at the moment. If you need to get in touch please use my mobile number.
