25.01.2022 Tribute to past member Lion Murray Sherwell OAM In a tribute to Lion Murray who passed away on September 30, 2020, members and friends of the Lions Club of Naracoorte, gathered with his wife, Lions Lady Rita and family members at the Lions Pioneer Park to unveil a plaque in the Memorial Wall. Lion Murray gave exemplary service to this club during his 27 years of membership. His administrative achievements included President, Zone Chairman, Life Membership, and recipient of... the prestigious James Richardson Award. He was also the leader of a project to co ordinate the collection of unwanted reading glasses and hearing aids for distribution the needy in other countries. He was passionate about the history and development of the Lions Pioneer Park and it is fitting that a plaque in his memory be added to the wall which recognises past serving club members. MC for the event, Club President, Alan Thomson said that Lion Murray was a devoted member of our club who is sorely missed.
21.01.2022 LOCALS SEIZE THE DAY AT TOWN HALL THEATRE PERFORMANCE The award-winning play 'Carpe Diem' delighted a local crowd of close to 100 people when it was performed... in the Naracoorte Town Hall last night. Presented by Naracoorte Lucindale Council and Wellbeing SA under the Statewide Wellbeing Strategy, 'Carpe Diem' is a contemporary portrayal of Australian males dealing with issues of health, grief, loss and depression. Set in a fictional town in inland Australia, 'Carpe Diem' portrays the friendship of Nev, a hard-working farmer, and John, his stock-agent friend. Both have been impacted by the long-running drought, and are each fighting their own personal battles. Starring acclaimed actors John Voce ('Downton Abbey' and 'Dr Who') and Grant Piro ('SeaChange' and 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries') it delivers mental health messages in a way that is entertaining, immediate and highly relevant. It stresses the importance of mateship and professional care in times of crisis. Naracoorte Lions Club put on a sausage sizzle before the free local performance of 'Carpe Diem' and the Naracoorte Districts Suicide Prevention Network members had a display in the supper room.
18.01.2022 FAREWELL Members and partners of Naracoorte Lions bid farewell to popular Lion Bob and Gini Tidy at a bonfire and lunch held at Alan & Lyn Schinckel’s picturesque property ‘Leenala’. Bob and Gini have relocated to Adelaide after spending most of their lives here in Naracoorte. Their congenial nature has made them great friends to members of this club. Their move will take them closer to the many Adelaide based members of the Tidy clan. They will be greatly missed but Bob will remain as Lion at Large until he does his homework about Adelaide Lions clubs.

09.01.2022 During June, the Lions Club of Naracoorte joined with other district clubs to conduct the 7th Annual Mad Minute campaign. More than 1,200 eligible Year 5 students from across the Limestone Coast participated in the event which aids the development of literacy, and self esteem of the kids. After all, how many adults could speak confidently for a minute on any random topic without choking and getting a bit weak at the knees? Well done to the 130 or so students from Naracoorte South and North, from Frances Primary and Padthaway Primary. You should all be proud of yourselves.
