25.01.2022 Every year, people around the world mobilise to raise awareness and take action during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign. The #16DaysofActivism begins from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) until 10 December (Human Rights Day). This year, the Pacific-Community-SPC Human Rights and Social Development (HRSD) division will be amplifying the voices of our youth stakeholders who are working in their communi...ties to end violence against women & girls across the region. Remember, we all play a part in preventing and supporting those women and girls who are experiencing violence in our homes and communities.



24.01.2022 From 1am today (Friday, 22 January) restrictions will ease in Greater Brisbane. Our short and sharp lockdown was successful in keeping the movement of people and the virus to a minimum, and as a result, we are able to ease restrictions. From 1am tomorrow: Masks will no longer be mandatory except in airports and on planes. We recommend Queenslanders continue to wear masks on public transport and places where social distancing isn’t possible. 24.01.2022 NEW ROADMAP: Last week a new roadmap to easing restrictions for October, November and December was released From today, you can have a drink or meal at your local without sitting down. Dancing will return to weddings from November 1. The roadmap is set for the NSW border to reopen.... 21.01.2022 25th November is observed worldwide as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. It is also the first day of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign. This year, the campaign is dedicated to informal women workers whose lives and livelihoods have been impacted by COVID-19. Pacific-Community-SPC's Human Rights and Social Development Division has collated information on events and activities happening around the region to mark the 16 Days of Activism Campaign 2020. 14.01.2022 ** National Youth Policy Framework Consultation Survey ** The National Youth Policy Framework will outline how Australian Government policies and programs help improve the lives of young Australians. It will aim to give young people a voice in policies that affect them. The Youth Taskforce will deliver this framework by the end of 2020. The Youth Taskforce is pleased to inform that as of this morning, the National Youth Policy Framework Consultation Survey is now open.... The survey is accessible to all young Australians aged 18 and over and is the third consultation round since the Youth Taskforce began its work in June 2019. The purpose of this consultation is to give young Australians an opportunity to help shape the development of the Framework and share their views on what is most important to them. Further, this consultation will help the Youth Taskforce to better understand how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting them, information that will be invaluable as we continue to develop and refine the Framework. The survey will be open until Monday 12 October 2020.

12.01.2022 Solomon Islands has recorded its first positive case of COVID-19. This was confirmed by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare during a nationwide address this afternoon. The first positive case of the COVID-19 is a student who returned on board the repatriation flight from the Philippines. Sogavare says the student tested positive after he underwent routine tests upon arrival in Honiara. The student is asymptomatic, meaning he does not show or have symptoms of COVID-19.

03.01.2022 Voters in New Caledonia have narrowly rejected independence for a second time in two years, choosing instead to remain with France. Provisional results released by the French Government show 53.26 per cent of people voted No in Sunday's independence referendum, while 46.74 per cent cast their ballot for Yes with approximately 10,000 votes separating the two sides.

02.01.2022 The Mobile Women's Health Service is made up of specially trained registered nurses based throughout Queensland who provide a free and confidential service for Queensland women. The service aims to improve the health and wellbeing of women in rural and remote areas of Queensland. The service visits over 200 rural and remote communities in Queensland and services a 300 - 500km radius from base locations to provide clinics and other services on a regular basis. The service supp...orts all women, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and those from multicultural backgrounds. In some areas an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women's health worker assists the nurse in meeting the needs of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
