24.01.2022 A reminder to all NAC families that classes will be running as usual on Monday 12th in the Performing Arts Room.
22.01.2022 And that’s a wrap for Term 1 of 2018! I would like to thank all family and friends who came tonight to show their support for this incredible troupe of young actors. I announced at the Open Night that NAC will be taking a short hiatus and will return for more games in Term 3. It has been a privilege to see how each student has developed with confidence, collaboration and improvisation skills over the last 9 weeks. I will post regarding expressions of interest for ...Term 3 in the next week. Thanks! - Ceri Edwards, Acting Teacher
22.01.2022 What do all of these objects have in common? Find out tonight at the NAC Open Night. Doors open for parents at 5PM.
20.01.2022 Reminder to Parents: The remaining balance of NAC fees are due now. Thank you.
18.01.2022 In today’s lesson the students worked toward creating improvised performances based on suggestions from the audience. This required fast thinking, collaborative skills and the ability to adapt quickly. We gave our characters stereotypical animal characteristics. There were hotel front desk encounters between a cat and a mouse, awkward blind date conversations between a slug and a peacock, and a party pig who took singing lessons from a bird.
15.01.2022 Tonight is the night!! NAC students will have one hour to prepare whatever they will need for a Theatre Sports extravaganza - doors to our Performing Arts Room will open to family and friends at 5PM. Please come with an open mind and a supportive pair of hands, ready to applaud! It is a tough gig getting on stage and improvising on the spot. We will also be taking audience suggestions for characters, settings, complications, nursery rhymes and questions. Judges are scoring ba...sed on how each group communicates the following 5 categories: WHO (characterisation) WHAT (complication) WHERE (setting) TEAM WORK (communication and acceptance) ENTERTAINMENT (audience reactions) See you all tonight!
13.01.2022 What a wonderful first lesson!! Due to a few absences we had a smaller class - which meant more performance opportunities for the students who attended. We watched a short clip from the NZ Theatre Sports Championships and tried out a few games. Our focus was on ‘Acceptance’. We were also treated to a Q&A with Michael Mills regarding the upcoming community project. Looking forward to the next class already! Side note: That’s a real T-Rex claw
11.01.2022 Enrolments are now open for Term 1 classes. We have made the decision to create a 9 week course exploring 'Theatre Sports'. This will be an opportunity for new and returning students to be involved in supportive play that develops improvisation, problem solving and story telling. If you would like your child to be on the list, contact NAC NOW! BYO enthusiasm and imagination!!
10.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing returning NAC students from 2017 and meeting new NAC students for 2018. Just a reminder that classes are in the Naracoorte Primary School Performing Arts Room and will begin at 4PM TODAY. We will be ending our class 15 minutes early so that students are able to hear from writer/producer Michael Mills about the Naracoorte Caves - World Heritage On Our Doorstep project. For parents who are interested in learning more about the local project, there will also be an information session Tuesday 13th February, 4:30pm, at the Naracoorte Public Library where Michael will provide an update of what happens next in the community performance being developed to tell the story of the Naracoorte Caves, and how you can be involved.
09.01.2022 Upon further inspection, it’s clear that the application form is no longer active. Please make sure to contact the Naracoorte Lucindale Council for further information on the local production. Thank you.
01.01.2022 On Monday students found out what it feels like to play Theatre Sports in teams and pairs. They were expected to improvise short 2-5 minute scenes based on suggestions from the audience. Their performances were judged on entertainment value. All students took feedback positively and used it to improve their next act. If you plan on attending the Open Night there is a chance that you will be called on for settings or character suggestions! So far we have performed in yoga classes, dance battles, open heart surgery, cruise ships and hairdressers. Looking forward to our next class!
