If you've got a few minutes to complete it, we'd love to hear from you!... Council has a strong commitment to developing an arts and cultural program in tune with the desires of the community and is seeking your input into what kinds of activities you are interested in. Feedback received will be used to develop a framework for the Naracoorte Town Hall to articulate its purpose and define its future direction. The online survey closes on Monday (30 November). 23.01.2022 RURAL ROAD EXPENDITURE Every year Council makes decisions about how to allocate ratepayer funds to the range of services provided - such as roads, footpaths and kerbing, parks and gardens, library and community services, tourism and supporting local events. There are often competing needs and priorities. ... At times a section of the community may believe it is paying more than its fair share of rates for the services received. For example, funds received from rural ratepayers compared to rural road expenditure. Here are a few facts about how rates are allocated: Fact 1 54.8% is the five-year average spend on rural roads as a percentage of gross Council income (rates). This indicates that rates raised from rural areas is largely expended in rural areas. Fact 2 95.8% is the five-year average of rate revenue (generated outside of the Naracoorte Township) spent on rural roads. The chart below shows the five-year summary of rural revenue compared to direct spend on rural roads. This only includes directs costs attributable to roads, and there are other areas of expenditure in rural areas and small townships which will make the rural spend percentage higher than the 95.8% average. Fact 3 We are ONE community, and over time there will most likely be periods where expenditure is higher in one area than another, and this should be balanced over time as we collectively seek to provide good services and infrastructure for the whole of the Council area. Every year from April to June, Council invites the community to have input on the Budget and Annual Business Plan. This is your opportunity to tell us your priorities for the Council area. A copy of the Annual Business Plan is available at www.naracoortelucindale.sa.gov.au//annualbusinessplanandbu

17.01.2022 MAYOR'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE My Christmas message this year is one of gratitude and hope. The events of this year have been challenging and it is with enormous pride that our community has faced these challenges with compassion, generosity, resilience and flexibility.... At the beginning of the year, SA had a number of severe bushfires and the community rallied to assist those who had been affected by supporting the Dollars for Doonas project. Even with the fundraising events being cancelled, the whole community’s generosity was fantastic which enabled the donation of bedding to all South Australians who had lost their homes. The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has impacted us all and I say thank you to everyone in our district for the way you have been compliant with the directions given by the State Government and worked together to keep our community safe. Sincere thanks go to all our health workers during these stressful times. Thank you to the police, defence personnel and the border communities who have been most impacted and supported the border personnel. We must be grateful for living in such a wonderful country and district and I hope that next year the Coronavirus will be controlled and we will be able to live our lives without the restrictions that have been so necessary this year. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas, a restful and joyous holiday break and a safe and healthy New Year. Mayor Erika Vickery OAM, Naracoorte Lucindale Council
