11.02.2022 We had a very busy weekend at Narmbool and were excited to open our doors for our first wedding since our closure in March! What an incredible moment this was, celebrating a special day for Kanzas and Nick. We are delighted that we were able to host their family and friends for a day of sunshine, reunions and plenty of love We wish you all the best for your future ahead!

24.01.2022 It is FrogID Week, Australia's biggest frog count! We are very lucky to have a healthy isolated population of Growling Grass Frogs at Narmbool and have been involved in the conservation action project 'Dams to Habitat'. Their home features a fully fenced area with plenty of aquatic vegetation such as reeds and rushes, and various areas for refuge habitat on the banks around the dam. Distinguishing features of the Growling Grass Frog include a bright, olive-green warty back with brown blotches (adult). The males will also make a growling call during the breeding season.

19.01.2022 The ‘Basalt Plains Garden’ at Narmbool has never looked so full and happy. This garden emulates the natural Victorian Volcanic Plains grasslands that once covered large areas of the state. Once again, this year the endangered Basalt Peppercress has germinated well in amongst a suite of native grasses and ground covers. Our friend Matt Pywell at Ballarat Wild Plants, is your one stop shop to create your own native oasis!

19.01.2022 Check out one of our local bees collecting pollen from an Ornamental Pear Tree. How amazing is the pollen on her hind legs! Did you know that all worker bees are female and approximately 65% of flowering plants (and some seed plants) require insects such as bees, wasps, butterflies, moths and beetles for pollination? To protect and increase pollinators in your garden, try setting up an insect home, growing native flowering plants and reducing pesticides.

16.01.2022 We are taking a trip down memory lane to revisit a very special celebration of Melissa and Callum! We cannot forget a wedding that celebrates with an ice cream cart, guests that can't stop dancing underneath the festoon lights or the constant giggles surrounding the bridal party. This day was full of laughs and will always be one that we will never forget!

16.01.2022 Hey there! We're no longer posting on this page. Please follow Sovereign Hill to stay up to date about events, education programs and collections at Narmbool.

15.01.2022 What a pleasant surprise, our beautiful Wisteria is out in bloom! Our Gardeners have been working hard to have our space in perfect condition for visitors to return and we can't wait for you to see these amazing colours in person!

14.01.2022 The magic of nature and science coexisting. Twenty-two wind turbines occupy the landscape surrounding the Narmbool property, as a part of the larger (60 turbine) Lal Lal Wind Farm. Constructed with the goal to generate enough energy to power 95,000 homes and save 780,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year. School groups visiting Narmbool engage in Victorian Curriculum based activities which highlight the importance and benefit of sustainability for our future.

13.01.2022 Today marks International Astronomy Day! Imagine tucking yourself in at camp with this view or simply dancing the night away! We miss the company onsite but hopefully we will be able to welcome you all back very soon.... John Marinopolous

12.01.2022 Over 5000 trees, shrubs and grasses in the ground at Narmbool with still a few days to go. Thanks to Cva Geelong, the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority, the Leigh Catchment Group and the Working for Victoria crews x 2 for the massive effort in helping us complete our Revegetation Projects. We couldn’t have done it without you!

11.01.2022 Because we are not quite ready to say goodbye to the weekend once again - let's take a look back at the wedding of Georgia and Andrew This Sovereign Hill staff alumni couldn't have planned a more perfect day for their friends and family to celebrate their love. The deep red pops of colour throughout their flowers and decor showed their true personalities alongside a night filled with laughter! Even rain couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces and a year on, these two have... plenty to celebrate! Oh and who could forget the personalised raspberry drops - the most amazing party favour!

09.01.2022 For the past three weeks we have had two Working for Victoria crews from Cva Geelong come out to Narmbool to plant grasses, shrubs and trees as a part of 2 Revegetation Projects - 20 Million Trees Project and the Scotsburn - Phoenix Bushfire Recovery Project. The past three weeks has seen the crews plant a total of 6232 plants into the ground. What a great effort and a huge thank you to the crews from CVA for their time and hard work.
