20.01.2022 As we keep getting asked - YES, THE CLUB IS CLOSED THIS WEEKEND. We will be staying closed until at least 30th of April 2020, as per ABA instructions. That means, no club scheduled shoots, no competitions, no beginners. Not open at all.... It seems a number of other Archery organisations have done the same thing, or some even more extreme, so its not just us or the ABA - its most, if not everyone. Unfortunately there is not a lot we can do about it, as the ABA controls and administers our insurance. And no insurance = no shooting. I will do my best to keep everyone updated as additional information comes in.

19.01.2022 Now is a good time to work on your form and technique. Over the coming weeks I'll sharing tips and videos with you. Whether you are a beginner or an advance archer, working from the ground up, starting your stance will give you a good base to build on. This John Dudley School of Nock video is it a great source of information. Take care and keep shooting.... Glenn Newell Club Coach https://youtu.be/oSN1g0heb2M

18.01.2022 Friday afternoon is here. Who is shooting tomorrow? We will have all 4 course open from 1pm for members. Practice range open from 10am for new archers. Follow @peel_archers_inc ... #archery #archerylife #bowhunting #fieldarchery #archerypractice #targetarchery

18.01.2022 ***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT*** To All Archers and Members, As you are all aware all ABA clubs have closed due to COVID-19 and are not planning to reopen until at least 30th April 2020 or once Government restrictions are lifted. This leaves us with no option but to cancel the 2020 Peel Open and reschedule for 2021. We will announce a new date once the pandemic has passed and the Clubs Committee commences planning for 2021 events.... In the meantime the Club is offering two options for anyone who has already nominated and paid for the 2020 Peel Open. Option 1 - Receive a full refund. Email [email protected] with your Name, ABA or Affiliated member number as provided on your payment deposit, amount paid and your Bank details for refund (include account name, BSB and account number). Once reconciled The Club will commence refunds from 30th April 2020. Please allow 2 weeks for the Club to process refunds from this date. Option 2 Remain nominated for 2021 Peel Open and be exempt from any changes in fees and/or charges for the 2021 event. If no response is received by 30th April 2020 your nomination will be accepted for the 2021 Peel Open unless we hear from you otherwise. For anyone who is interested in being involved in helping organise the 2021 Peel Open we will be putting together a sub-committee and would appreciate if you can express your interest to assist by sending an email to: [email protected] If your business, or if you know of a business, that may be interested in becoming a Sponsor of the 2021 Peel Open please email [email protected] If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me. Kind Regards, Glenn Newell Peel Open Event Coordinator

17.01.2022 Thanks to A2B Shift it for coming to the rescue this weekend. We need one of our fridges moved and Anthony got the job done with our hassle. #ledgends

17.01.2022 APPROPRIATE APPAREL Ladies and Gentlemen, Ive been asked a couple of times......what should/can I wear at the club, to shoot.... Remember - Archery is not a fashion show. Safety and practicality are the focus. So here is a rough list. - sturdy closed shoes - the terrain can be uneven in places, and there are bugs, sharp sticks, and drop bears with a foot fettish . - long sturdy pants - see above - some sort of shirt type device The cub does NOT prohibit camo, but be realistic and sensible. If you show up with a Ghillie suit, not only will we all laugh hysterically, you probably wont be allowed on site with it. A hat, sunscreen and bug spray is also highly recommended. Personally, I wear steel cap safety boots, good socks, work pants, and the club shirt (and a hat, sunglasses, and lots of nuclear grade bug spray), and I make sure my mini-human wears the same thing. It is a natural site. We do have bitey/stingy things - so protect yourself as much as possible. Dont do this (below)

17.01.2022 Club open to members this Saturday 2rd Jan from 9am practice 10am shoot Have a safe new year to all and see you ready to shoot again in 2021

15.01.2022 Interclub competition Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd August - see details below. Come one day or come both - Hope to see many Peel members there.

14.01.2022 Remember, Stay Safe. - Don’t take it for granted that people know one end of a bow from the other. - Never point a loaded bow/arrow at anything you don’t intend to make holes in... - Overconfidence can be just as bad as incompetence

14.01.2022 ***CLUB UPDATE*** The Club will remain CLOSED for the foreseeable future until we have received confirmation our Insurance coverage will not be compromised. Our latest advice regarding our insurance coverage received from ABA Nationals is: "All club activities are still to be ceased. The government directive is still to stay at home unless it is for the listed essential activities." ... Until we receive notification to the contrary, we are unable to open in any capacity. Rest assured the Committee is working behind the scenes to ensure we have a COVID-19 compliance plan in place to protect our members for when we do reopen. Please be mindful when The Club does re-open it maybe in a different format and be for Members only. We will continually review and update plans to ensure we stay compliant with current Covid-19 restrictions/regulations. It is anticipated that we will not be able to hold Beginners Sessions for some time. If you have any queries or concerns, please contact [email protected]

09.01.2022 Peel Archers - ALL SHOOTS CANCELLED Ladies and Gentlemen Unfortunately it looks like ABA has cancelled all affiliate club shoots until further notice.... Quote: All branch shoots and activities to be suspended immediately until the 30th of April subject to further review and There are insurance implications for clubs who choose to still host events. That means NO INSURANCE. That means NO SHOOTS. I have attached the link to their page, flyer, notification below in another post. At this time we are still trying to understand the impact to the planned Peel Open, but its looking like we will have to postpone or cancel. If cancelled, all funds will be refunded. 07.01.2022 Sunday Opening Times and Stuff....... Sunday shoots are still on every ‘second’ Sunday (fortnightly) at the moment. The alternate Sunday’s are Daddy/Daughter weekends for me, so my priorities are elsewhere. There may be an opportunity in the future for the opposing Sunday’s, we just need volunteers who will commit - and not ring up at the last minute cause they ‘can’t make it’. Are you interested? Join the committee and be a part of the clubs future. There are a few vacant po...sitions at the moment, so your chances are good. I’ll be there on my Sunday’s unless I’m dying horribly with man flu - in which case I’ll do my best to find someone else, or post on Facebook - please always check Facebook before you head out the door as emergencies do happen. Open at 09:00 (Hang around if I’m not there at exactly 9, I might be running a bit late) Start shoot at 10:00 (Or maybe a bit earlier, if it doesn’t look like anyone else is coming) 23/02 08/03 22/03 05/04 19/04 03/05 17/05 You get the general idea. The aim of Sunday’s at the moment, it’s a fun, easygoing, low stress environment for club members to shoot again, or have another option if they can’t make Saturday’s. we hope to be wrapped up by lunch time, so you can go home and spend time with your family. - No beginners - Must be a club member and an ABA member. - Must comply with all club rules, this includes the fact that the ‘responsible opening committee member’ is responsible and in charge of the activities and the safety of the day. Remember I’m a volunteer, so I don’t have to be there, so please don’t make it difficult . Bad tempers or bad attitudes won’t be tolerated. - You must have your own gear - no club ‘loaners’ - Only the 4 Field Courses and the Beginner/Warmup range in front of the clubhouse will be open. - No BBQ. I’ve tried a bacon and egg brecky roll a few times, but not a lot of success. May reconsider if it gets more popular. Any questions, feel free to ask. The answer might be NO, but you never know. Remember to like and follow the page so you get all the updates. And yes, that’s me

I realise as a Committee we have not been as regular and open with our communications as we have in the past. This is mainly as the Committee has been operating in a reduced capacity for the past 5 months, coupled with technical issues and changes to everyone's availability due to COVID-19 - this has impacted on the way we have been able to communicate with our members. We're working to get Club information out via email more regularly, in the meantime Facebook is being used as a source to provide current information to our members in a more timely manner. If you, or any members you know, are not getting emails, or your email address has changed, please email [email protected] or message the Clubs Facebook page with your updated details. The Clubs AGM will be held late July 2020 with notice to be given in the coming weeks. We encourage all members to take an interest in the running of the Club. If you are unwell, have been in contact with a confirmed case of Covid19, recently returned from overseas, please DO NOT attend the Club.
