18.01.2022 Some hand made pieces.

16.01.2022 Just a little story about this bike, it’s a Mixte which is French for unisex, a bike for both sexes. When they came out they were mostly sold to females, however a good percentage of males bought them too. This particular bike is a Madison, Australian made straight out of the seventies, it was stripped down to bare metal and repainted in a soft yellow, then clear coated for added protection, then it was converted from a single speed into a 6 speed cruiser. To do this was no...t a simple job. The modern wheels are a little wider than the original chrome 27 rims, and the teeth on the front chain ring don’t match the chain and cassette of the later alloy 700 or 28 rims. So a compatible chain ring had to be ordered to match the modern rear end. Once this was fitted, a unison of chain, cassette and front chain ring came together in perfect harmony. Now because this bike originally had only a rear coaster brake, and the newer alloy 700 rim was free wheel, brakes were now a problem. So a vintage Australian made Indi donated the front and rear calliper brakes for precise stopping. This bike now has a ride that combines the smoothness of old school technology with some modern features. It is one of 4 in a group that I call the Awesome Foursome, because I have 3 others that are different brands with all the same shape. These are not for sale, but part of a collection. So keep an eye out for future posts and pics of the other 3. See more

16.01.2022 Project is yet to be completed. Keep an eye out for the finished product.

08.01.2022 Part 2 of the Mixte story. This one is a Premier 10 speed, all the quality of the 70’s era, Shimano gear changers, derailleur’s and brakes, chrome wheels, s/s mudguards, and Hi.Ten steel frame. Even back then they had quick release wheels and a small lever which you will notice in the pics was designed to relax the brake cable to allow you to remove the wheel. This bike is all original right down to the bell. Once again the ride is like nothing you will ride today, very smooth and quiet. While this bike has a kangaroo logo on the head tube, it was made in Japan by a company named Maruishi, and no doubt distributed by Australian suppliers. Keep an eye out for part 3 of the ‘Awesome Foursome’.
