10.01.2022 We had a great time last week kicking back at Narrabri Fish Farm for a few days, with space for the kids to roam and plenty of places to put the yabby traps in.... Ricko who runs this place is a deadset legend and will have you laughing within a few minutes of his fish farm tour - just do it!! Sites are all unpowered at $20 a night, with access to a bush shower and toilet. There are bins for rubbish and plenty of firewood around to use. Sites are LARGE in size. The fish tour was very interesting, with the farm currently housing a variety of species for the DPI, to be later released into rivers whose numbers have depleted. The science behind the aquaponics setup, breeding, hatching and releasing is quite specific and more work than I thought! Tours are $25 per family and you can also pay $25 to go fishing for a few hours in the dams - they provide everything you need. Or, skip the work and just purchase what you'd like to eat per kilo straight from the water to you. We were also excited to be joined by Nanny Harper and Jarrahs "mates" (all Owens uncles) who came to share some time with us on their trip. We had a feast of yabbies while Jarrah talked everyones ears off We spent some time exploring the sights around Narrabri including Yarrie Lake which would be beautiful on a summer's day.
