21.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of Men’s Health Week, a week that focuses on the health impacts of men’s environments. Our people are our most important asset and their mental and physical wellbeing is crucial to ensuring we are prepared for anything anytime anywhere. This year Men’s Health Week highlights the importance of taking the time to have regular check-ups with a general practitioner. Tips from www.menshealthweek.org.au to manage your health:... Be active in getting medical help if you don't feel well, have a problem that won't go away or notice unusual symptoms. It's OK to seek help - don't try to do everything on your own or bury problems. Talk to your partner, friends and workmates. Push hard to get the help you need to manage your life, work, family and financial needs. Partners - be proactive in helping your men and boys get the help they and you need. Use available hotlines, speak with professionals to get the best course of action and be persistent. Don't leave it too late to seek help. For more information visit: https://www.menshealthweek.org.au/ #menshealthweek #vrarescue

19.01.2022 Great news! Two children missing from a rural property near Mudgee have been located safe and well. Just after 5.45pm yesterday (Monday 27 December 2021), emerg...ency services were called to White Cedars Road, Kains Flat about 35km north-east of Mudgee following reports two children were missing. On arrival, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were told the children a 14-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl had left for a walk at about 2.30pm and had not returned. A large multi-agency response was commenced, with assistance from specialist officers from Police Rescue, PolAir and the Dog and Mounted Unit. Police were also assisted by NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service, Fire & Rescue NSW, NSW Volunteer Rescue Association, State Emergency Service NSW, and the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service. Following an extensive search, the two children were located by PolAir in bushland about midday today (Tuesday 28 December 2021). They are currently being escorted from bushland and will be reunited with family after being assessed by paramedics. Police would like to thank the media and the community for their assistance.

14.01.2022 It is time for our squad to intake another round of trainee rescue operators at Narromine. Would you like to give back to the community? Would you like to work with a great group of like minded people who want to assist others in their time of need? If you would like to experience the feeling of self satisfaction that you can achieve by helping people then joining our squad maybe just what you are looking for. ... You will get to experience training and operating in areas including but not limited to search and rescue, vertical rescue, road crash rescue, domestic and industrial rescue, animal rescue and more. Training is provided and predominantly takes place on Wednesday nights between 18:00and 20:00 and one Sunday a month at the VRA shed. Requirements of your application will include a working with children check and also a criminal history check. You must be at least 18 years of age. Some of the situations we are called to require you to work under pressure whilst remaining calm. You will have a great support team working with you to achieve this. We do a lot of our own fundraising and this is shared amongst all members. Some of this involves raffles, traffic control and BBQing duties which may involve some weekend activities. If you think that joining our squad may be of interest to you, forward your details via email to narromine.captain @vrarescue.org and an application form can be sent to you. Applications are now open. Please contact us if you would like to ask further questions. #vrarescue
