24.01.2022 I get it - I really do. Change can be hard and/or scary. It's the unknown and it is all about changing something that you're familiar with and the uncertainty that goes with it. But, what if........ - change is the best thing to happen - it can do more for you than ever before - it's not all that scary once you take the first step - it's better for you financially.... There are so many 'ifs' but if you don't go through change - then how do you know whether or not there is a better way out there? Research is one way. Being brave, taking a deep breath and saying I'm ready is another way. Change is one thing I'm going through now - its a BIG change personally and involves changing something I've been comfortable and familiar with for 42 years! It's scary, it involves research and planning but if we (as a family) don't make ourselves a little uncomfortable to start with - and change - then how do we not know whether we can lead a happier, stress-less life elsewhere? If we never go, we will never know! 21.01.2022 It's #tuesdaytools and today is all about Notion I recently discovered Notion and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed and have started using this myself (and for when my team expands). It's a relatively easy platform that provides an all-in-one workspace for ease of daily business operations.... And you know I'm all about the simplifying! They have combined databases, kanban boards, wikis, calendars and reminders - which allows you to create your own system for knowledge management, note-taking, data management, project management etc. So if you've been looking for a program to easily outline your SOPs, or share information with your team (a la Wiki), or keep notes - then you need to try this! 12.01.2022 There are 6 important reasons why business operators whether sole trader or one with a team are not getting the results that they want to achieve when it comes to operating it. For solo operators: > It’s doing all the things (not playing to strengths and outsourcing weaknesses) > Working irregular hours and not spending enough time with family + friends... > Doing same manual tasks day-in and day-out > Not documenting the processes of what you do > Not systemising your processes > Not automating the processes, where possible For example, next time you onboard a client, think about the way you do it and how long it takes. Then consider how much easier it would be if there was a quicker and easier way to do it without you having to spend time to do it yourself each and every time. Same goes to lead management, offboarding clients, managing emails, and so on. For businesses with a team: > Not having a proper organisational set-up > No proper roles + responsibilities outline > Don’t have a Standard Operating Procedures Bible for everyone to access > Not properly delegating the tasks with the right people > Not properly communicating with the team > Not understanding a proper business operations structure is imperative Think about what takes place in the business, who does what and when. Do people fly by the seat of their pants and manually re-create every day? If someone was unexpectedly away sick, can someone easily step in and get what needs to be done, done? Are the right people doing the right tasks? Does everyone know to go to look up how things are done and who does it? With the right documentation and set-up, getting processes and systems in order will allow a more hands-off approach to the way business is done each day and free up the time needed for other income-driven tasks, like sales and so on. 10.01.2022 .... what is the one thing that stands out for you that once you stopped, felt like a relief or gave you the power to do other things that you love? For me, it was working out what it is that I do and who it is that I serve (so cliche) but in doing so - it allowed me to say no to the things that weren't serving me or my (ideal) clients and allowed me to say 'yes' to the ones I was aligned with and could help - whilst not sacrificing my morals and who I am.
