16.01.2022 Evening all, over the weekend the has been some vandalism in the oval. The cricket pitch and grass close by were burnt. Thankfully the council are going to have... this fixed before the games on Saturday and Sunday. If you hear any info on who did this can you please let the police or the club know. This is now the third act of vandalism around the club in the last few months and it needs to be stopped.

13.01.2022 For all between Dunalley and Eaglehawk Neck. Avoid the area if you were planning on heading that way. Stay safe.

12.01.2022 please share (it’s this Wednesday). This workshop is for everyone in the community. Not just parents with children currently attending at Sorell school. **follow the link to register.... This is our opportunity to have a say and build the best school possible. If you have children that travel past Sorell to attend other schools it would be great to know why, what programs and facilities do other schools do better. Also a chance to bring in facilities/programs that other schools currently don’t have. Eg of some topics raised to me during conversations: *STEM labs. *Coding classes. *Virtual reality rooms better iot and student iPads. *Environmentally friendly ran school aiming to zero waste and sustainable energy. (Recycling, reuse, compost, wind turbines, solar, natural lighting etc). *improved facilities/programs for wood work, metal work, cooking, sewing etc which can be utilised with adult Ed classes. *Better sport facilities. Encouraging participation and working with community sport clubs. *Swimming pool that can be utilised by the public and used by surrounding schools for learn to swim programs and carnivals. *Production/performance room which can double up as an indoor cafeteria/canteen. Performers can use the stage why children are at lunch. Public can also book facilities for conferences, productions, award nights and events with option of catering. Hospitality classes could participate for work experience. *Entrepreneur class which can be involved with pioneer village and school farm visits, dunk tank bookings, cafeteria bookings, gym/production room etc. Prepare business plans, marketing, bookings, funding, banking, setting budgets and goals. Money raised will go back into these facilities for ongoing upgrades/repairs. Sorell business owners can also talk and give advice from experience. *More specialist teachers to help children with learning difficulties. *Better programs for children that are over achieving. *open learning spaces. *After hrs adult classes. Computers, coding, languages, cooking, woodwork, music (re-start community band). And the list goes on and on. Obviously not everything will fit in the budget. So it’s important the right/wanted things do. And who knows, with good numbers attending public forums we might get more??? https://www.education.tas.gov.au/community-and-engagement//

09.01.2022 DAMAGE TO PUBLIC PARKS We’ve had many incidences of vandalism and graffiti at our playgrounds recently, which is very disappointing. Repairing this diverts comm...unity money away from other projects. If you see anyone damaging public property please report it to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 and to Council on 6269 0000. 06.01.2022 What are people’s thoughts on the new bus service/schedule? Is it better than before? Prices still haven’t been finalised. The times, routes and fares are done by state growth. So would Still be the same if it was a different provider. Ie metro.
