25.01.2022 Fantastic to hear the Gumeracha Fifth Sunday Market will be going ahead this Sunday, looking forward to it
24.01.2022 Lest We Forget. It is important we take the time to remember and reflect on the adversities of war, the sacrifices made and that we strive to foster a peaceful and harmonious society Remembrance Day @ Stirling.
21.01.2022 Great idea Stirling Adelaide Hills!
20.01.2022 Fantastic turnout at our Community Forum in Mylor tonight, our first since late 2019 due to Covid-19. Lots of thoughts and ideas with key themes including public transport, Masterplan progress for the oval, BMX track at Sherry Park and bushfire preparedness. Great to hear from so many Mylor locals
15.01.2022 Disappointing news after our primary producers and community sent a strong message that we wanted to remain GM free!
11.01.2022 It was quite a momentous evening at the Apple and Pear Growers Association AGM last night where they resolved to amalgamate with the Cherry Growers Association. It has been discussed for a number of years with the decision made to ultimately provide a stronger peak body for our primary producers.
11.01.2022 It is deeply disappointing that last night Campbelltown City Council resloved to continue their attempt at annexing Rostrevor and Woodforde from our Council. This is despite the affected residents making it clear via TWO separate surveys that the vast majority wish to remain part of our Community. The CCC has failed to listen to our community, which I struggle to understand when the primary purpose of being an elected member is to make decisions in the best interests of the community. Despite the disappointing outcome last night, our Council remains resolute in doing everything we can ensure the residents' concerns continue to be heard and that they ultimately remain AHC residents, which is their wish. 10.01.2022 Hearing from our future leaders at Council's Youth Leadership Program Graduation, an amazing group of young people
08.01.2022 We know our community cares deeply about the environment. Last night I seconded Cr Grant's motion for the administration to investigate reducing and/or eliminating all single-use plastics in all Council operations. The final report to come back to Council later this year will also consider a program for community education, the prioritisation of suppliers who use compostable alternatives and green bins at events. See Cr Grant's full motion below which was carried unanimously.... Motion on notice: A report be provided to the Council before the 31 October 2021 on the feasibility and cost implications for reducing and or eliminating the use of single-use plastics in Council operations, being replaced with compostable or reusable alternatives as necessary. The report need not address those plastics already banned by State Legislation in March 2021, those proposed to be banned under the same legislation in March 2022, nor single use-plastics required for medical or disability uses. The report should consider but not be limited to: i. Council ceasing to purchase single use plastics; ii. Council stipulating to contractors, event organisers, sponsorship seekers, caters, food vans and so on, that single-use plastics are not supported by Council and alternatives such as compostable or reusable alternatives be utilised as necessary; iii. As leases expire, update leases to include a clause that single use plastics are not supported by Council and alternatives such as compostable or reusable alternatives be utilised as necessary; iv. The CEO, Directors, Senior Officers and Staff be trained and educated to support and implement appropriate processes to ensure operation and compliance of associated procedures. v. Green bins be made available at Council run events for the collection of compostable waste to ensure compostable materials are diverted from landfill. vi. A program of community education and promotion, including approaching business owners and operators throughout the AHC area, in order to encourage a change from single-use plastics to alternatives such as compostable or reusable alternatives as necessary
06.01.2022 I'm pleased to see the new Kersbrook playground now open to the public, looks fantastic! I'm sure my 2 year old daughter would love the opportunity to give it a go next time we visit the area
05.01.2022 Important information if you're in quarantine and in the Hills during the upcoming hot weather
03.01.2022 A great community initiative with the perfect view to go with it!
03.01.2022 Today is #NationalEucalyptDay so I thought I'd share this majestic Eucalypt "The Charleston Tree" which measures over 13m in circumference! A compelling reminder of the beauty of nature and that we must work together to look after the environment. Photo credit: Aaron Poole
02.01.2022 Most livable place in Australia if it was a worldwide survey I'd guess we'd top that too!
01.01.2022 The Adelaide Hills Council, which traditionally hosts major sections of the TDU, said Events South Australia had done a tremendous amount of planning to make a safe event. Though we are disappointed, we fully support their decision not to hold the event in January Deputy mayor Nathan Daniell said. Although an international event is off the table, we look forward to working with them on a new, reimagined domestic event.
