24.01.2022 The National Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Workforce Survey 20192020 is the first national survey of the Australian AOD workforce since 2005. http://nceta.flinders.edu.au//national-alcohol-other-drug/ The National AOD Workforce Survey was funded by the Australian Government Department of Health.... Over 1500 workers in the AOD sector participated. The Survey Report provides an in-depth profile of Australia’s AOD workforce, offering unique insight into the: People who work in Australia’s AOD sector Organisations providing AOD services Challenges and rewards of working in the sector Workforce development issues and priorities for the AOD sector and organisations.

16.01.2022 Listen to Professor Ann Roche's interview with The Wire about concerns that risky alcohol consumption among older Australians across three different age demographics (50-59, 60-69 and 70+) was being largely overlooked by health care professionals, policy makers, and carers. Tailored strategies are needed to identify the indicators of alcohol-related problems and risk perceptions for their older clients, whilst providing age-appropriate responses and guidelines. 16.01.2022 Substance misuse in older people A new editorial publlished in the British Medical Journal describes how rates of alcohol and drug use among Australian Baby Boomers are increasing significantly. This is in contrast to younger age groups, where use is decreasing. According to the editorial:... Developed countries have seen substantial increases in longevity over the past 20 years, contributing to a global demographic shift.
