23.01.2022 Following a Facebook post re long maxi #taxi wait times. So many people ( #disabled included) are suggesting to just use a community #transport provider instead. Public transport is meant to work for all. Rarely is a special product for special people the preferred solution. We must examine why public transport isn't working for disabled cohorts. Is it that emerging disrupters in the transport space like rideshare have benefited some but hurt business models of the modes of transport that disabled people need most? #TransportForEveryoneEverywhere

21.01.2022 For too long new disruptor technology in the transport space hasn't included the disabled community. This must stop. What enables some must enable all. #TransportForEveryoneEverywhere

19.01.2022 Not strictly transport as in public transport but the sentiment of incremental innovation and no backward steps is relevant to many of our public transport discussions! #TransportForEveryoneEverywhere

19.01.2022 Anyone from Melbourne please get in touch with the amazing folk at DRC. Without illustrating the issue it's all too easy to think disabled people are invisible. Nothing about us without us.

13.01.2022 NITAN and all of its members value quality engagement and look forward to jointly participating in a consultation piece that all involved in can be proud of. #TransportForEveryoneEverywhere

12.01.2022 Fantastic to see quality submissions from orgs like Inclusion Australia - National Council on Intellectual Disability and All Aboard: Accessible journeys everywhere coming through to the DSAPT modernisation. Important we all have a voice on these reforms. We must ensure that we have true regulatory reform that adds teeth to reinforce rights. We need not only organisational responses through. 'Average' citizens sharing their experiences of how inclusive and compliant transport can change your life must form part of the policy change discussion. Transport must be for all. https://www.infrastructure.gov.au//disabili/have-your-say/

12.01.2022 Yet another example of why relying on direct assistance rather than inclusive design puts disabled people at a disadvantage. Always just on the edge of exclusion. #TransportForEveryoneEverywhere

11.01.2022 Disability Resources Centre are a key member of NITAN and do amazing work in their local community pushing for inclusive transport. Please support their work. Lets be clear though this is not just about Melbourne and not just about trams. This is about every transport provider and every jurisdiction taking their obligations under the DSAPT seriously. Currently the consequences for not doing this are not strong enough. Let this petition be a sign of things to come. Strong independent reporting and a strong compliance mechanism must be in place for society to move forward in an inclusive manner. #TransportForEveryoneEverywhere #beyonddsapt

03.01.2022 National Inclusive Transport Advocacy Network - NITAN welcomes the release of the Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) exploring reforms to the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport. This is a key stepping stone in transforming our transport network from its current all too often ad hoc and inaccessible form to one that values disabled people as customers who are able to enact their right to accessible and inclusive public transport. NITAN and its valued member o...rganisations and individuals will be facilitating further conversations across the many topics contained in the RIS in coming weeks. It is crucial that we gain input from all parts of our community. From grassroots lived experience of using public transport to those who have experience of developing quality technical specifications and legislative frameworks, we need buy in from all. It's important to have this conversation widely and transparently. We must show that inclusive transport is a driver of wider inclusion in our community. This will be a marathon not a sprint. With this being just the first of multiple chances to engage. The consultation period is open till 23 April. Happy reading! https://www.infrastructure.gov.au//disab/reform/index.aspx

03.01.2022 As we move to a more robust reporting and compliance framework there is a real concern that providers will simply remove infrastructure rather than invest in its compliance to ensure they meet compliance benchmarks. It's a dark work we live in to think this could occur but seems we may already be there. #disabilityrights #TransportForEveryoneEverywhere #BeyondDSAPT

01.01.2022 Anyone in Melbourne make sure you join in with Disability Resources Centre sadly disability still is seen as an issue that only affects a few. So days likes this are important in putting a face to an issue. #transportforeveryoneeverywhere
