The Full Moon in Taurus is a time of sensual, earthy abundance of creation and the gifts we receive from Mother Earth. 07.01.2022 Wed all hoped things would be a bit more Back To Normal by now, but here we are, being the state all the other states mothers warned them about, and enduring ...the humiliation of Sydney being able to look down on us with actual justification. While were mostly completely over lockdown by now (even the introverts, who spent a while feeling mildly guilty about enjoying this bright side to a global pandemic), and would like to have some very stern words with that security guard who couldnt keep it in his pants, were embracing this time as a chance for deepening our connections with our practice, taking up new hobbies, and using the Winter as people did of old; as a time for drawing inward, for introspection. Cailleach time. Crone time, when the earths heartbeat slows, and we spend time watching the fire and telling stories, and taking care of our loved ones, listening to rain on the roof, and thanking the Mighty Ones for shelter. Right now, were taking care of our loved ones and everyones loved ones - by staying home and staying safe. We all miss our community terribly, although were gradually adjusting to the new normal online. Were telling our stories digitally, or by video chat. Were finding new ways to gather, and be together. Our ingenuity and adaptability is one of humanitys best and brightest traits, and in times like this, we may suffer, but we shine as well. Were so proud of the resilience and willingness to help that weve seen in our community. This is the first time weve lived through something which has affected the whole world simultaneously, and its been incredible sharing our experiences online with pagans and friends (and pagan friends) in other countries. We really are all in this together, both in Victoria, and the world. And its by keeping that togetherness in mind, and that care and compassion for others front and centre, that well beat this thing. Because our actions now dont just keep us safe; they protect our friends, our families, our communities, and all of their loved ones. Were minimising the number of empty chairs when we gather in person again. Part of the new normal is masking up weve embraced it with enthusiasm in the PCV committee, as an opportunity for individuality, self-expression, and helping to support the small businesses and craftspeople that are making sure we stay safe in style. As Pagans, we respect science. Its what enabled the builders of standing stones to reflect astronomical events with absolute accuracy for thousands of years, and herbalists and metallurgists to work their craft, natural medicines to be discovered; and its how we know about the pagan peoples who came before us, and what they did. You might say that combining the scientific method of observation and evidence-gathering with intuition, the ability to listen to the Otherworlds, and magic, is a huge part of effective witchcraft and Paganism. So when the experts show us how putting a mask on can save lives, we listen. And we make damn sure we find pretty ones, because the other thing humans are really, really good at, is decorating and expressing ourselves. SO SHOW US YOUR MASKS! However, we will continue to prepare the rituals for each full moon and these will be posted here on Facebook and on our website (and will include a link to a guided meditation MP3 file) so that we can perform the rituals remotely.
