18.01.2022 Our journey with Melasma is very personal and started with our owner Lisa Carroll’s own chronic melasma issues, which accelerated after her 3 pregnancies, hormonal imbalances and hereditary predisposition. With over 40% of her face covered in a melasma mask, she had tried dozens of treatments and had nearly given up. She knew vitamin C would help. Realising the innovation in Cellular Extraction could harness the natural vitamin C molecule (the natural source of ascorbic aci...d) from the world’s highest source of Vit C, the Kakadu Plum, she started her first human trials on herself - using the extract as a serum in 2012, with significant results within a week. Now, 8 years later she has no melasma issues and couldn’t live without the Kakadu Plum Cellular Extract. In 2015, we partnered with a beauty salon to trial the serum on other patients, showing encouraging results that we believe are considered a breakthrough. Naturally, we went native for some new ingredient ideas (we have some top secret new Aussie natives in trial), plus some non-natives with seriously scary names, not to mention h...eat! Turning up the heat is an understatement with Carolina Reaper, Scorpion, Viper, and Ghost Pepper. Each species has a unique level of the heat-inducing compound, Capsaicin. The Periodic Table of Scoville Heat Units ranks these peppers according to their intensity - i.e. 1st is Sweet Bell (0 Scoville Heat Units), 9th is Poblano (1-2,000 SHUs) and the hottest in 54th place is Carolina Reaper with 1,569,300 SHUs! 05.01.2022 Throwback to when Team Native could all be within a few square metres of each other! Since we've started 'distancing' in the office, and even with some of us working remotely, we've actually grown so much closer! We now realise how much we thrive off collaborating and sharing, and how we took those impromptu catchups making coffee for granted. The trials and challenges of Coronavirus have strengthened our company's systems, communication, relationships and science more than ...we could have imagined! We are running weekends and split shifts, so things are different, but we can draw a lot from the challenges too. We’ve found we’re communicating more face to face locally and globally with teams through Skype and Zoom, and everyone is so genuinely interested in how each other is managing in their respective parts of the world. We have experienced a real sense of we are in this together. We’ve heard amazing stories of brands helping other brands with stock they can’t get from overseas and sharing packaging sources, and an increase in brands wanting to connect with the growers of their natural ingredients. Some have even sent the producers gifts of their products and notes of thanks for growing the botanicals they feature in their products!
