24.01.2022 Today has been an exciting day !!!!! 8 years ago dear hubby and I were planning our wedding ......, As part of this we needed rings ..... this was easier said than done as my ring finger measured in at a whopping Z+1 !!!!!!... This required my ring to be custom made Over the past 6 years I have been working on improving my health and fitness .... As a result my ring had gotten to big and had migrated on my biggest finger where I have worn it proudly!!!!! However it had become very loose and so I went to the jeweller that made the ring to have it resized My ring finger has shrunk from a Z+1 down to an S ..... a total of 16 sizes !!!!!! I’m feeling pretty accomplished at the moment!! The photos were 2018 verses last week

22.01.2022 It is now 24 days since I started my water challenge and I have to admit that today I didn’t make it Every night I fill my 1 litre water bottle ready for my daily walk ...... however today I didn’t do that walk for various reasons so the water bottle never left the fridge...... combine that with several cups of coffee and .....well I just didn’t get there!!!! On the plus side it has made me realise that one month is not long enough to establish a new habit and in fact the ...latest research coming out of Harvard university is that it takes 66 days to create a habit!!!! So ....... my solution is 1) do better tomorrow and 2) continue my challenge until the new year.... How much water did you drink today???

21.01.2022 The muscles are feeling a little bit stiff after our big trek yesterday so I decided to have a gentle recovery day today ..... Started this morning with a 20 minute flexibility and massage roller session which helped workout the stiffness Then this afternoon I did a light workout von the exercise bike for 20 minutes........ Feeling fabulous

21.01.2022 It’s only recently that I added animal protein back into my diet ...... The portion sizes are much smaller than what I was consuming before going plant based..... and I am happy with my decision to add small amounts of animal products back and I have to admit I’m feeling much better for it ..... Today my dear hubby cooked a small piece of steak which we had with a big salad ...... it was sooooo yummy and filling....

20.01.2022 As I have improved my fitness and as part of nurturing my Relationship with my darling hubby we started hiking several months ago...... But we were woefully unprepared ...... this resulted in me collapsing during a particularly long hike on a hot day a month or so ago..... Did we give up ....... did we quit?????... No!!!!!! We adapted!!!! We purchased the necessary equipment to ensure that we would alway have enough water and that we would remain safe..... I also downloaded an app that grades all the trails were likely to encounter And..... most importantly!!!! We modified our activities to suit the climate!!!! Today we went for an early morning walk around Forrest Lake followed after breakfast by a visit to the driving range for a bit of a hit...... What are your plans this weekend to get some activity in????

19.01.2022 Self care Sunday.... How does your self care Sunday look??? Today I spent my morning having a pamper session with Ann Whitaker and another lovely lady....... I played with the Lumispa which made my skin so very soft ...... I can’t wait until I get mine!!!!! Then spent a quiet afternoon with my loving hubby...

19.01.2022 Fitness Friday Sore knees, shinsplints, achy lower back? You may need new training shoes. Running, or any form of training in old or worn-out shoes increases the likelihood of injury, particularly to knees and ankles, and the lack of support can impact your lower back, too. If you're feeling "niggles" or unusual muscular aches and pains during or after exercise, it may be time to trade in those old kicks!... Shoe wear and tear is also affected by your gait, body weight, frequency of use and whether you train in or outdoors (treadmill running won't wear them out as fast as outdoor running). Most experts seem to agree that between 400 and 500 Kms (or around 12 months if you're a less-frequent exerciser) is about the lifespan for a running shoe. Even if you haven't run 400kms, if your shoes are more than about 18 months old, the glue that holds them together will have begun to deteriorate, leaving them less shock-absorbing and more likely to cause you discomfort and possible injury. If you can't remember when you last bought new runners, it's probably time. And it's really worthwhile getting fitted properly by a sports podiatrist or a running shoe fitting specialist before you buy to ensure the right type of shoe for your foot and your gait: not necessarily the one that the shoe salesperson wants to sell you. If you're anything like me, you don't need an excuse to buy new shoes - get fitted and enjoy your pretties! Thank you GI Jane PT & Fitness for your advice https://www.facebook.com/gijanept

17.01.2022 In February this year my dear Dad left this earth and passed over the rainbow bridge In doing so he joined my darling Mum and my only sibling..... To say I was devastated was an understatement!!!!... I entered a very dark place .... However with the support of my ever loving family and my oh so patient friends and colleagues the darkness has started to lift This afternoon Rosie and I went on our first official walk. We covered 1.5km approximately which given I have a broken toe was an achievement!!!!!! Tomorrow’s goal is to repeat the walk AND empty the renovation stuff out of the weights room and recommencing structured exercise!!!! Who wants to join me ????

I am just sitting quietly having finished a light lunch deciding whether to go for a massage or to have a soak in a scented bath mmmmmm the decisions!!!! How are you spending your Sunday?????

13.01.2022 Let’s talk about ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS! If you use them because you crave sweets, you might be setting yourself up for even MORE SUGAR CRAVINGS. I know it seems weird but ... Scientists say non-caloric sweeteners can change how sensitive your taste buds are to sweetness. Some of them are 200 to 20,000 times sweetener than actual sugar!!! Over time, this can cause you to crave even MORE sugar. The Takeaway: be mindful when it comes to your intake of artificial sweeteners and your cravings! When was the last time you had a diet soft drink???

Why am I sharing this you ask????? Well on top of spending quality time together we exceeded our step goals for today and acheived double the floor climbing goal!!!!! 11.01.2022 How to boost nutrient absorption 1. Eat a variety of foods in one meal To get a combination of nutrients, focus on including various colourful foods in your meals -- for example, a salad with roast vegetables or brown fried rice with carrot, greens, capsicum, zucchini and celery.... 2. Pair vitamin C-rich foods with iron Particularly for people consuming plant-based iron sources (legumes, tofu, dried fruit), pairing these with vitamin C-rich foods helps to convert the nonheme iron into a more bioavailable form. Eat vitamin C-rich foods such as oranges, capsicums, chilli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts, with iron-rich foods (such as legumes and red meat) to increase iron absorption, Fruit in salad helps increase iron absorption. 3. Include healthy fats with each meal "Vitamins such as A, D, E, and K need healthy fats to efficiently absorb as they are all fat soluble," As such, you can use oil-based salad dressings such as flaxseed or olive oil to enhance the absorption of fat soluble vitamins from your vegetables. "Adding nuts, seeds and avocados to salads and meals are also a wonderful way to enhance your nutrient absorption," Tuck said. 4. TAKE A PROBIOTIC "Nourish your gut. Especially if you do have issues related to digestion, such as IBS or constipation, it's best first to get a handle on that," "You can do this by populating your gut with healthy bacteria either via probiotics or probiotic-rich foods such as kefir, sauerkraut and kombucha." Look for yoghurts containing 'active' or 'live' cultures to get a probiotic fix. 5. AVOID drinking tea at mealtimes Although tea contains healthy polyphenols and other compounds which may reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases, these compounds are also known to inhibit iron absorption. 6. Take a break from caffeine and alcohol "Alcohol and diuretics [like coffee] not only lesson the number of DIGESTIVE ENZYMES in your system, it also damages the cell linings of the stomach and intestines, making it harder for the nutrients from digestion to enter the bloodstream," "Instead, try to incorporate fruits and vegetables that have natural digestive enzymes such as pineapple, papaya or various mushrooms." Replace some of your black teas and coffees with herbal tea. 7. Manage stress levels Believe it or not, stress negatively affects digestions as well, The cortisol felt by the body during stress slows down digestion and food is left in the system undigested. To help, try deep diaphragmatic breathing which can relieve stress and get the digestive system going. 8. Hydrate "This one important factor can make or break our digestion," "When you haven't had enough fluids or water, you immediately see a difference in your stools. Our digestive system is reliant on our level of hydration as our blood cannot transport nutrients without enough water in our system."

10.01.2022 This week dear hubby and I visited Kathmandu and invested in a pair of hiking boots each..,., Today we tested them out with an early morning walk around the Mount Coot-Tha Botanical gardens and then a trek through the bush to really try them out in a variety of terrains which we succeeded in doing..... We saw a very dry Simpson’s Falls then visited the Simpsons Falls picnic area for a light morning tea before heading to Blue Gum picnic area for lunch and to top up the water b...ottle. Both areas are well equipped with amenities. How did you spend your Weekend???

03.01.2022 34 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child I stopped riding my horse which was my main form of exercise...... As a result over time I lost much of my fitness and almost all of my flexibility!!!! I didn’t realise how inflexible I had become ..... blaming the fact I could no longer sit on the floor or touch my toes on my large size!!!... Then as part of my health journey I started doing yoga at home from dvds i picked up at markets and online...... Well I have to say that my flexibility has improved to the point I can now cross my legs while sitting upright in a chair..... and I can do this both ways !!!!! I’m SOOO excited...... I always say it’s the small changes that can have the largest impact!!!!!!

03.01.2022 Recently I began reading a book by Robin Sharma called the 5am club....,, As a chronic insomniac getting up early was always a struggle ..... However I have gradually brought my get out of bed time to 6.30am...... allowing me to do a toning workout in the morning!!!!... Currently I’m working on my Abdominal, glutes and arms ....... have to admit it is a much better way to start the morning than what I was previously doing!!! What’s your big achievement today???

I’m looking forward to my next lesson as well as my regular Sunday practice !!!!! What do you do to relax????
