These beautiful natives produce pink/white flowers from July to February.... Fun fact: The flowers, leaves and stems were used by indigenous Australians to treat skin conditions, headaches and upset stomachs. See more

Dipogon lignosus - Cape Sweet Pea The Cape Sweet Pea is a climbing weed with stems that can form dense infestations over a relatively short time. This can leads to the smothering of native flora and prevents regeneration of shrubs and trees. The Cape Sweet Pea is a nitrogen fixer which means it will improve soil fertility giving its weed friends a great start to life. Control methods include manually removing the ...above and below ground biomass or scrape back the bark and paint with 100% Glyphosate. Fun Fact: Dipogon lignosus reproduces through exploding seed pods!

19.01.2022 So how good was your botanical IQ this week? Boronia dichotoma A beautiful native endemic to swampy locations from Perth to Margaret River, WA. You can see its pinky-red or white flowers from August to December.... Fun fact, the Boronia is a part of the Citrus family!

19.01.2022 So how good was your botanical IQ this week? Nitraria billardierei - Nitre Bush... A native shrub which grows up to 2m high and 4m wide. It is found in saline areas both inland and on the coast. It flowers between July and December and produces edible fruit which tastes like salty grapes.

01.01.2022 So how good was your botanical IQ this week? Oxalis purpurea - Largeflower Wood Sorrel... This species of Oxalis is a weed to Western Australia and flowers either white or purple from May to September. Commonly found on road verges, vacant blocks and my front lawn. This weed can be controlled through an application of metsulfuron methyl or 1% glyphosate.
