19.01.2022 Sunday training done and dusted ... and honestly if life permits I’d happily do that every weekend . Who else loves the beach, the ocean or just open water? . It just makes me a happier person, so why not combine your loves right ... fitness and the beach ... . Today’s training was ... Open water swim and run off the swim and tonight I’ll need to do some stretching, rolling out and recovery. . Full disclosure here I’m still learning to swim calmly and comfortably in a wetsuit... the cold in general, the icey water on my face, the waves and movement, the tightness of the wetsuit around my chest and shoulders all equals sensory overload for me. 15.01.2022 Habits, habits, habits ... if you want to be fitter try to foster an exercise routine or daily habit around moving. . If you want to eat healthy develop that habit of shopping, meal prepping or cooking on a certain day if the week. . Try shifting the focus on the daily habits, the daily task and try to stop obsessing about the end result as it’s the small daily steps that will get you there... you exercise regularly you’ll get fitter, and feel better. If you eat better consi...stently your weight, health, mood, skin etc will all improve gradually also. . What habit are you fostering? . 15.01.2022 Ever started a new diet or tried to eat clean and then had a whole bunch of kick back from your gut and digestive system?? . Well I have, more than once or twice too ... I’ve done about 5 or 6 12 week challenges and no surprise I get signs of dietary adjustment every time. Yes it’s normal part of the conversion of diets from high processed carbs to plant based dietary fibre. It’s also a symptom of the bad gut bacteria dying off and the good bacteria settling in. It can take ... from a few days up to 4 weeks for some people depending on how clean you normally eat. . You can’t not have some level of digestive adjustment if your overhauling your diet so please if your going through this know that this is 100% normal... uncomfortable but normal . Here Some natural remedies that might help. . Big symptom will be constipation 1. Drink Water - aim for your daily target of 2-3ltrs (add a drop of oil or juice - Digestzen, Smart and Sassy, Peppermint, Ginger or lemon to help ease digestive symptoms) 2. For a short time add dried fruits like prunes, apricots and dates (not many though) 3. Take a Probiotic to assist your gut 4. Add pre and probiotic foods like apples, sauerkraut and yoghurt to your diet if you can tolerate them. 5. Add oats, psyllium husk or chai seeds to your smoothie or yoghurt. 6. Keep moving and exercising. . Another symptom is that bloated or really full feeling you get when trying to overhaul your diet. 1. Keep Exercising and moving through it this actually helps your digestive system - sitting still is not great. 2. Drink Water - this is so important 3. Ginger or ginger oil - add it to your food or cooking in small amounts 4. Peppermint or peppermint oil - drop on the tongue or in a glass of water or try the fresh herb in salads 5. Try to eliminate foods that may make this worse like beans, cauliflower, onions etc 6. Remove fizzie and diet drink as carbonation and artificial sweeteners can make bloating worse 7. Try to de-stress and do something relaxing as stress can exacerbate bloating and digestive issues. Stretching or yoga is great. . 10.01.2022 I love the rain but it seriously effects my motivation ... it wasn’t raining when I left home to walk to F45... probably why I decided to walk rather than drive. . 07.01.2022 Some days leave you feeling and looking a little worse for wear. . This pic was Day 3 of eating cleaner and for performance... and I was definitely withdrawing from some stuff and having minor dietary adjustments. . However now I’m week 4 and I already feel good when I train, I feel fueled and energetic in my workouts, so yay!... . My Sleeps has been pretty crappy and that can effect so much... so I can’t wait to get some good sleep... I’m using copaiba every night to support sleep... super easy 1 drop under the tongue and a drop on my temples before bed = . I love my @garminau Smart Scales so my workouts, food and body metric all sync to my training and tracking platforms yay . I’ve vowed to get my nutrition back on track and maybe see those abs I once had ...so I’m planning the meal plan and shopping list (the luxury of being indoors riding lol) and just setting up my fitness pal to be ready for the next few weeks... we’ll 12 to start with lol . On March the 6th I did the ‘all in teams’ with two amazing women I didn’t post about this here as it didn’t quite go as planned, so I was processing it and then I got sick ... so here it is, I’m proud of my achievements and grateful for the experience. . Re post from my personal page ... ... Tweed Enduro done & dusted . Swim 1600mtrs 23min (was meant to be 1500 ) Transition 1 6min Bike 90km 3:21:27 Transition 2 9min Run 14km of 21km complete (race was canceled early) . Prep for this event and the execution didn’t go as expected but does it ever so I’m taking the positive; 1. This is officially my longest Tri distance- longer than HB100 but no 70.3 (112km) 2. I felt great for most of the day 3. My foot held up 4. I loved the swim and the run legs how good is a tide assisted swim and a flat-ish run . 01.01.2022 What’s you favourite way to spend a Sunday morning? . Mine is classically a sleep in, coffee and a cooked breakfast and some training, meal prep and chilling with the kids. . But today I started my day with an open water swim at Redcliffe and a jog after the swim. It was amazing how much it lifted my mood after I woke up tired and body sore from yesterday’s bike ride.... . The sun was bright and warm, the water chilly and refreshing (still wetsuit appropriate) and I have to say I didn’t miss my bed once. . Followed it all with a delicious coffee of course!! .
