16.01.2022 Healthy eating tip#5 avoid toxic oils Alright, here we go into more specific recommendations. Oils are mostly fat and good fat is your friend while toxic fat makes you sick. Nowadays all sorts of industrially produced oils are available in shops. All of them claimed as healthy choice. Have you ever seen any of the oils marketed as Chemically extracted, fully oxidised by-product of perfume other industry? No? But the truth is most of what you see in our shops are those... types of oils. So, not aiming to go far into technical details there are general rules in choosing cooking oils. They are: - The extraction process must be a simple one. Cold pressed is the most common and I would recommend stick to this one only. If you cannot find how this oil was extracted on the label put it away. Based on that criteria none of the vegetable or seed oils will end up in your shopping basket. - Do not buy or store oils in plastic containers. Plastic can mix with fat overtime making it a toxic combination. Glass or metal containers are the way to go. - Buy a produce of country where you know food production standards are high enough. So, unless you make your own oils (like one of my friends) your shopping list will be quite narrow and it will include only: - Virgin Olive oil, - Virgin coconut oil, - Lard (pork fat) - Duck fat - Butter Enjoy!



13.01.2022 Ever thought switching to barefoot shoes and have no idea where to start from I would recommend the Ipari Hana shoes from Xeros Shoes. Simple design, light weight, wide toes and natural feel on the ground will bring you enjoyment of day to day walking, dancing or event running. They still look like normal casual shoes that you can wear almost anywhere. Hana are durable and can be easily fixed with super glue if needed. I have had one of those for almost a year and absolutely ...like the experience. However, can’t say the same about their Coalton range. In my view, it is nowhere near to Ipari Hana. Feels heavy and hard because of leather. High ankle design also reduces the freedom of feet movement. Even though Coalton has the same sole as Hana it is fitted differently on shoes creating more bouncing on heel and tripping on toes while walking. It also twice more expensive than Hana. 10.01.2022 Healthy eating tip#6 enjoy your food not your work The importance of having lunch away from your desk has been highlighted many times by all sort of specialists and most of all it makes perfect sense. Our body parts (digestive tract, brain, immune system etc.) are not isolated from each other. All of them work together in a nice orchestra of healthy sounds. You cannot take away one of them and expect the rest will continue the music at the same pace. They will play for... some time but not as good and not for too long. Something will start to fall apart at some point. So, why is it important for your body and mind orchestra to eat away from your desk? Simply because when you enjoy your food your digestive system works more efficiently. Your hormonal response (insulin and the likes) improves too. Contrary, when we eat in front of our desks trying to quickly fix those work tasks our brains are not tuned to meals. The stress related hormones (cortisol is one of them) are in action and they inhibit function of other systems (including digestive) because stress is always given the green light in our bodies for survival purposes. Did you also know that our brain directly communicate to our gut bacteria and vice versa? Gut bacteria is like a big, very big, crowd talking to each other and working together to make us happier by helping digest food. If we spook them they won’t do their job correctly. Our thoughts affect them. So, don’t make your lunch a fight for survival, don’t scare your gut friends. Tell your body and mind to relax and enjoy your food. Eat away from your desk or even office. Make the switch just for a short time.
