22.01.2022 Available for adoption Northern NSW to Brisbane Outback Rescue ... Pledges Needed Name: Big Mike Breed: Bull Arab X Bull Terrier Age: 5 years Sex: Male Dog Friendly: Yes large dogs Child Friendly: Older Cat Friendly: NO Other Animals: No Desexed: (to be) Adoption Fee: $395 Desexed Fencing Requirements: Needs a Perfect fence This beautiful boy will need an owner that is home more often than not and someone willing to give him a lot of love and some training... and a perfectly fenced yard. Big Mike or Mikey We believe he is a Bull Terrier x Bull Arab, approximately 5 years Old. Big Mike is a super snuggly and affectionate boy, all he wants in life is a lap to rest his chin on, so he can get all the pats. Mikey is very good with other large dogs, and often goes on walks and playdates with other dogs Training:We are working on Big Mikes lead skills, as we believe he has never been on a lead until he came to the shelter. He recalls to a whistle, and just loves meeting new people. Please note: Mikey would not be suitable for home with any other pets including cats, pocket pets and livestock, and just because of his size, we think he would not be suitable for small children, as he most likely will knock them over with his attempts at getting pats and cuddles from them. If you're interested in adopting or want to know more, please call Paul. Please do not text or send messages. If Paul misses your call, he will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you. Have you heard of Pledging? Would you like to help this dog by making a pledge towards his rescue? Pledging is a monetary promise you make towards saving an animal in need, however no money is paid until we officially have the animal in our care. Pledge money will go towards vet work and training. How it works... If the DogFather Rescue ends up doing this Rescue, we will tag you with our bank account details and you pay the amount promised. However, if another Group rescues the animal, no pledge money will be required. This will allow us to help more Pound animals in need. The Outback Pound where he is currently located says he is beautiful dog. For all enquiries Paul 0429 509 334 Anytime Day or Night We work with Outback Country Pounds and do our best to save as many cats and dogs as possible from destruction in these outback country areas. 11.01.2022 Once again Ivory Coat, now being made by one of the major pet food manufacturers that make Baxters wet and dry are being blamed for the death of 1 puppy and illness of the other pup. This is what happens when the original creator sells off to a company that already has caused serious issues with its supermarket brand Baxters Feed raw. Feed meats offals and bones If yu think feeding raw is expensive; vets are exponentially expensive.... FEED YOUR PETS NOT THE VETS!

04.01.2022 This is Archie, my beautiful, smart, always cheeky fluffball. Last week Archie was diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer). Over this past week of tears and heartbreak... I've found some words which I consider important, so I hope you have time to read them. We're aware of the pejorative term "Un-Australian". I'd like to apply this term to two aspects of "Australia" which put the health and well-being of our dogs at risk. The first is the use of glyphosphate, a chemical weedkiller, sprayed in our parks. Widely considered carcinogenic, with meta-analysis of exposures of the chemical in humans raising the chance of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in humans by as much as 41% (est). This makes me wonder how harmful it could be when a tennis ball rolls through recently sprayed grass and subsequently sits in your dogs mouth for any length of time. Credit to some shires, such as City of Subiaco who have opted to switch to steam weed control rather than chemical. Unfortunately many shires are yet to follow suit, including City of Stirling. Often warning signs are erected while spraying is in progress, then immediately removed. Is it really that hard to leave signs out for a day or so to warn dog owners, children, and adults alike, of the dangers of a chemical widely considered carcinogenic? The second is our self-regulated pet food industry and "voluntary" standards designed to benefit the industry rather than the consumer. Pet owners have the right to assurances about the safety of pet food, and from my own experience this is grossly absent. Over the years I've dealt with hundreds and hundreds of pet owners who have suffered heartbreak over the sudden sickness or death of the pets they love. Many of these linked to specific brands of pet food, and often cheaper pet foods which are allowed to be deceptively marketed to dupe the consumer. I'd like to specifically use Woolworths Baxters as a prime example of a product which has been linked to the extreme sickness and deaths of many dogs over the years, yet remains un-investigated and still heartlessly on the shelves of Woolworths stores worldwide for $6 a bag. Woolworths still maintain Baxters is a "quality product", when simple common sense would suggest for $6/bag it would be nigh-on impossible to create and sell a quality product. Having my own much-loved dog sick has really brought home the pain so many have had to deal with - it's heartbreaking. In many cases, I'm sure, these could have been avoided if our government, local governments, pet food industry (PFIAA), veterinary association (AVA), and our manufacturers, strove to do the right thing. On a positive note, over the years I have seen progress. Awareness and pressure from consumers has resulted in improvements to many brands of pet food, and even minor improvements help. We've seen the rise of some excellent products from smaller manufacturers who strive to produce a better product. We've seen larger manufacturers continue to improve ingredients and quality. From when I started Pet Food Reviews and today there have been many improvements, but we still have a very long way to go. The wonderful efforts of Angelique at 7.30 who played a key part in instigating the Senate inquiry into the safety of pet food (2018), raising so much awareness of how lacking our regulations are - that was a big step forward, and I hope to see some beneficial outcomes. That, combined with the efforts of many others - Christine & Peter, Rach, Debbie, and Jodi (who's dogs suffered from Dermocare-induced Megaesophagus), Cush (who's family dog suffered a sad demise within hours of eating Baxters), Veterinary surgeon Tom Lonsdale (who has fought the pet food industry for decades at huge expense to himself having experienced first hand the many dogs who have been affected by poor quality products), Australian Pet Owners Group, Senator Stirling Griff, and last but not least V, Susan, and Alan who have supported the Pet Food Reviews project from the very early days - thank you, it means a lot. I will continue to fight this fight, and I hope the coming months show a continued improvement and a safer Australian environment for the furry family members we love so much.
