25.01.2022 With the recent increase in online shopping and Christmas fast approaching, you may have extra cardboard to dispose of that won’t fit into your kerbside recycling bin. Cardboard can be taken to either of our Resource Recovery Centres, free of charge to be recycled into new cardboard products. https://www.nawma.sa.gov.au/resource-recovery/rrc-locations/

20.01.2022 We are reviewing our kerbside bin collection service and would love to hear from you . Complete the survey (see link) and you could also win a Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) bin or bags of compost made from material collected in local FOGO bins. https://us20.list-manage.com/survey

17.01.2022 If you are upgrading any electronic equipment over the Christmas period, remember that you can recycle your old items for free at both of our Resource Recovery Centres. Electronic waste contains hazardous as well as valuable resources that can be recovered and used again. Recovering these resources reduces the need for new resources and prevents them being lost to landfill or discarded into the environment. https://www.nawma.sa.gov.au/e-waste-recycling/

17.01.2022 Would you like to know more about what services NAWMA offers and what happens to your recycling? Join NAWMA for a lunch time Zoom session on Tuesday 21 July from 12 noon 1pm. Register your interest by contacting NAWMA on 8259 2100 by COB Monday 20 July.

13.01.2022 NAWMA offers free tours to residents of its constituent councils (Salisbury, Playford and Gawler). If you would like to visit our Education Centre and see the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) up close, please contact the NAWMA Customer Service Team on 8259 2100. Note: individuals or groups are welcome to visit and participants must be 18 or over.

11.01.2022 Did you know that you can dispose of your pet waste in your FOGO bin? Composting organic material enables nutrients to be reused in gardens to improve the quality of the soil and also reduces the amount of waste that is sent to landfill. You can wrap pet waste in newspaper or place into a 100% fully compostable bag (must meet Australian compostable standards - AS 4736) to minimise any smell. https://www.nawma.sa.gov.au/resource-rec/garden-food-waste/

10.01.2022 Over the Christmas and New Year period, there can be a lot of food that doesn’t get eaten. It’s important that it isn’t wasted. If you don’t already have somewhere to compost your food scraps, you can place them into your green-lid Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) bin along with your garden clippings. You can place all types of food scraps into the FOGO bin, for example bread, meat, bones, cheese, as well as all vegetables and scraps from the chopping board. NAWMA will collect the contents of the FOGO bin and our partner Peats Soils will use their industrial scale composting facility to turn your food scraps into compost. https://www.nawma.sa.gov.au/resource-rec/garden-food-waste/

10.01.2022 NAWMA operates two Resource Recovery Centres where you can recycle a wide range of items that can’t go in the yellow-lid recycling bin. For example, x-rays, batteries, gas cylinders, waste cooking and engine oil, fluorescent light tubes, tyres and electronic waste including televisions, hair dryers and toasters are all accepted for recycling, seven days a week (note charges apply for some items). Check out our locations and opening hours here. https://www.nawma.sa.gov.au/resource-recovery/rrc-locations/

09.01.2022 Please remember, these are the only things to place into the household recycling bin. Soft plastics like plastic bags are not permitted in the recycling bin because they get stuck in our equipment and contaminate our cardboard and paper. If you place your recyclables in a plastic bag, they won’t be able to be recycled. Take soft plastics to a Red Cycle collection point at a supermarket. Learn more about recycling here. https://www.nawma.sa.gov.au/resource-re/what-can-i-recycle/

09.01.2022 If you have collected your household recycling in a plastic bag, you must take the items out of the bag when you place them into your yellow-lid recycling bin otherwise they cannot be recycled. All items must be placed loose into the yellow-lid recycling bin.https://www.nawma.sa.gov.au/contamination-is-costly/

08.01.2022 Happy National Recycling Week! Did you know NAWMA now recover kerbside recyclables from more than half of the councils in South Australia? Watch the video to learn more about the process and click on the link to find out if your recycling comes to NAWMA. https://www.nawma.sa.gov.au//NAWMA0024_Recycling_Council_M

02.01.2022 Kerbside bin collections will continue as normal over the holiday period, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day. There will be no collections on both of these days, they will occur on the following days (Saturday 26 December and Saturday 2 January). Both of NAWMA's Resource Recovery Centres are closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
