10.01.2022 Our Working From Home Guidelines are available now! These Working From Home Good Practice Guidelines were developed following a survey on the impact of Covid-1...9 on work during a time when most, if not all tertiary providers in Australia, were delivering their courses on-line, and staff were required to work completely from home. This sudden transition to working from home came with several challenges and pressures for some staff. However, overall it was found that many in the sector found that being able to work from home was one of the silver linings that emerged from the disruptions. These guidelines provide some general considerations for ourselves, our leaders, colleagues and teams that can help us decide if a working from home or blended working from home options may be the right fit, and how do we maintain our connections with our colleagues, motivation, engagement and wellbeing during the process. https://www.adcet.edu.au//working-from-home-good-practice-

09.01.2022 We are so excited to launch the first National Youth Disability Summit! Free and online. After hours and Saturday sessions. This Summit has been designed by yo...ung people with disability, for young people with disability. The Summit will run online from 29 September - 3 October, 2020 and is free for everyone. We will be announcing amazing speakers soon! The Summit is free for all young people with disability to attend, and given the ongoing complications from the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Youth Disability Summit Co-Design Committee (a group of 20 young people with disability from around Australia) made the choice that this year it will take place entirely online! This Summit will be a chance for young people with disability to get together and discuss their experiences, and the issues they are passionate about. The Co-Design Committee has identified five key themes which will guide each of the five days of the event: Education Employment Mental health The NDIS and housing Access, awareness and inclusion The first four of these topics will be covered on dedicated ‘youth autonomous’ days that is, days specifically for young people with disability to hear from, learn from and connect with other young people with disability from around Australia. Thursday 1 October will be an ‘Open Day’ where we invite policy- and decision-makers, non-young people with disability, advocacy organisations and the wider community to join us to consider the theme of Awareness, Access and Inclusion. This will be a unique opportunity for the wider community to hear from a range of young people with disability speaking about issues they care about. Do you know someone who’d love to join? Share the registration link! Everything’s better with friends. Register at: www.cydayouth.events Image Description: Logo of the National Youth Disability Summit. 07.01.2022 New free eLearning program for External Disability Support Workers in Tertiary Settings https://disabilityawareness.com.au//external-support-work/ The ADCET Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training and the National Disability Coordination Officer - NDCO - Program marked International Day of People with Disability, on the 3rd of December, by launching a new eLearning program, Orientation for External Support Workers in Tertiary Settings.... Disability Practitioners and Educators of Universities and TAFEs from across Australia identified that support workers not employed directly by the tertiary organisation often do not have the appropriate knowledge to maintain student independence and understand the culture, nuances and requirements of tertiary life, or have sufficient awareness of relevant communication channels and protocols, and referrals points to on campus specialist services. This free eLearning program (including a screen reader version) is ideal for externally employed support workers, support agencies and tertiary providers, to develop relevant skills and knowledge to understand the most effective ways to support students with disability in tertiary education and training settings. The eLearning has been informed by students with disability, external support workers and disability support agencies and overseen by a national Project Advisory Group of representatives from the University and VET sectors, the NDCO Program, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The development of this eLearning Program was funded by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment in partnership with the National Disability Coordination Officer Program and the Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training.
