02.01.2022 More about the pending legislative changes. Primarily in relation to who gets to determine what is reasonable and necessary. It is proposed that the federal government will decide, not the NDIA. Will standardised packages of support become the norm? Once again people with a disability will be expected to fit into a pre-determined box. Disability funded supports are different to many other supports as they are lifelong and required for every aspect of daily life and are ofte...n the only way for someone to actually live their life. Thus having a significant impact on a person wholistically. As opposed to Health supports that are usually episodic and designed to address a state of health, condition etc, a situation where standardised and pre-determined responses are appropriate. And whilst there are exceptions to both of the above, support to live your life only works when you have input. Pre-determined packages of support reduce / remove your choice and control. See more
