25.01.2022 Supercharged RX8 running a PAR 1-4 straight cut synchro set. Really nice car. Personally I think the RX8 platform is highly underrated. Its a very capable chassis and with the extra poke of the supercharger (190rwkw) this one is fast, too.

23.01.2022 We don't build Subaru 5 speeds anymore, but we do still offer our crack testing, shot peening and ISF micro-polishing service on your gear sets, whether Subaru or any other make. They really do come up a treat. Lab tests by SAE and AGMA show the results of these processes (when done to the standards they dictate, which we do) are very positive - less likely to crack, less likely to pit, lower noise and lower oil temperature under torque.

22.01.2022 IAS Rally Teams rear diff in for a health check, and to reconfigure the clutch plates in the SuperTraction LSD, from a 2-way to a 1.5-way with 80% breakaway. While we were in there we isotoropic super-finished the plates, cam housings and side gears for smoother engagement and better durability.

22.01.2022 New Product Release Were manufacturing a batch of bevel pinions to suit Evo 1-3 / Galant VR4 / Lancer GSR centre diffs. These little "spider gears" are prone to chewing out from hard launches and handbrake turns which cause a significant speed differentiation between the front and rear axles.... We also offer 4-spider conversions which add 2 more spiders into the centre diff. Furthermore, popular aftermarket gear sets such as PPG and PAR have provision to run 4 spiders in their centre diff carriers. In all cases we need to supply extra bevel pinions. They are hard to find in good used condition these days, and also hard to get and expensive from Mitsubishi. These are made to OEM standard with a superior grade steel, and will also be isotopic super-finished. Not only are they better and stronger than the genuine items, theyre cheaper, too. Priced at $242 for a pair. Available from 20/09.

22.01.2022 Evo X transfer case set-up for a big powered street car. The crown wheel and pinion is Brena Corse, coupled with a Wavetrac LSD. When you see the paint on the teeth, we are checking the mesh of the gears to ensure the set is going to run in such a way that the load will be evenly distributed across the teeth. It tells us whether we need to adjust the pinion or crown wheel position via shims, to optimise reliability. With well over 500kw at all four 265 semi slicks, this set needs all the optimisation it can get.

19.01.2022 Starting off the year with something a bit spesh. One of the first full billet front R32-R34 GTR front diff/sumps, probably on the planet. Very nice bit of kit out of NZ. Complemented with one of our own 4.1 crown wheel and pinions, Quaife LSD and everything perfectly dialled in.... What a beast!

This enables them to run the larger evo 7-9 output spline (a special Brena Racing Dept crown wheel and pinion set is required for this). This one is heading out to Switzerland, destined for a hillclimb car that launches hard in the Alps.

14.01.2022 Special final drive ratio for this Brena Corse Australia evo 9 dog box build (13:63 (4.84:1)). Notice the finish on the gears. After heat treatment they are profile ground to ensure that the distortion that occurs during heat treatment is eliminated. Very few manufacturers go to this level of finish, and its part of what sets Brena Corse apart from others on the market. We have 2 full Evo 4-9 dog gear sets and a range of final drive ratios in stock, if anyone else is interested in the best.

13.01.2022 My own personal project. Its going behind a boosted, built BEAMS motor, so we have to throw everything at it to see if we can get it to hold together. I'm running a hybrid J160/AZ6 ratio combo, with our circlip modification. The strongest 1st/2nd, and a cruisy 6th gear.... I'm also testing out whether cryo treatment on the housings will make a difference in strength - my theory is that it should hold the shafts together a little better. All peened and polished with our usual careful assembly, all new genuine parts. Getting a little bit excited about this project now.

12.01.2022 Hi! I (Sam) am having a week off to relax and recharge, tinker on some of my own projects and catch some fish with my kids. Meanwhile the boys are at the workshop to receive and dispatch, and carry on with the many processes that go into building a gearbox the way that we do.... Ill do my best to keep up with communications here and via email, but wont be taking calls this week. Ill be back into it on 03/08. In the meanwhile, heres a pic of where my XT500 restoration has been up to for the last six months or so, which should clearly explain why I need to take some time off!

09.01.2022 We've had a bit of mixed communication from the South Australian government regarding the lockdown specific to the vehicle repair industry, resulting in us taking the day off today.

08.01.2022 Subaru R180 pinion cracked. As part of our peen and polish service, we first check for cracks by the magnetic particle / black light method. It can show up problems that you cant see with the naked eye. Picking this problem at this stage has saved this rally driver a DNF and potentially expensive damage to other components in the differential.

07.01.2022 One of the cool things about blasting things up during a rebuild is that we pick up alot of cracked housings during the process. Better to pick it up at this point rather than after the rebuild, only to have it fail! This piston housing in the ACD assembly in evo 7-X transfer cases often gets over looked by other builders.... Unfound, this crack would have allowed oil to bypass behind the clutch piston, and would have lead to leaks and an inoperative active centre diff.

05.01.2022 Mazda RX7 gear set crack tested, shot peened and ISF micropolished for a customer. We can do this for most gear sets even if you want to do the disassembly and reassembly. Awesome for classic, expensive and hard to get parts as it increases durability.

04.01.2022 Prototyping an oil guide that cant be purchased from Mitsubishi on our 3D printer. It feeds oil to the small pinion bearing in evo 7, 8 and 9 transfer cases. They are often damaged after a gear explosion, and render the case unusable for this relatively simple part.

04.01.2022 Nothing held back for this Tarmac Evo 9 transfer case. Custom anodised billet housings, diamond like carbon coated gears from Brena, Cusco LSD and our special recipe for assembly. This will be hanging off a Holinger sequential in a car being built out West to an insane level. Amazing stuff.

02.01.2022 Guy Tyler Rally Driver and Mike Dale Automotive in the IAS Rally Team Evo 7 win round 1 of the SARC with a Neat Gearboxes prepared drivetrain in a slippery and muddy event in Mount Gambier. Guy runs a nice solid combination of a carbon synchro 5 speed with our usual upgrades and a shorter final drive; an RS Cusco rear diff and Mfactory front LSD in the transfer case. Nice work team.
