25.01.2022 We are in the process of recording our Southdowns DNA through genomic testing and we aim to have everything in our Southdown stud recorded in the future. I feel we have a real opportunity with the platform created by sheep genetics to identify some of the unique genetic traits that Southdowns have to offer and build on those traits with the help of genetic markers. Eating quality and lambing ease are two traits Southdowns are renowned for but they are only a couple that set our breed apart from other breeds! Hopefully we get the opportunity to emphasise this and use the technology to push Southdowns further in the right direction !

14.01.2022 A client sent me through some videos of Nedelle Downs sired lambs out of first cross ewes. He said he couldn’t be happier with the weights and overall evenness of the whole drop, and expected to have them all gone in the coming week or so !!! Seeing lambs of this quality this early in the season and speaking to many other clients gives me great confidence we are doing things right .

12.01.2022 Shearing is all but done and it’s fantastic to have a happy crew on board!!! Just look at how happy the shearer’s are!!!

12.01.2022 Sale rams are now shorn (big thank you to Pat for another wonderful job ) and on a fresh paddock. They should really bounce now and will be looking a treat in 4/5 weeks ready for private sale.
