25.01.2022 Celebrating NAIDOC week with a sensory Aboriginal flag, discussing what the colours of the Aboriginal flag represent and painting boomerangs ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ Learning outcome 4.3: Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another... #naidocweek #alwayswasalwayswillbe

21.01.2022 Being a part of the community is important for all of us - especially for our youngest generation. Knowing that you belong and can contribute to your world gives us all a sense of pride, no matter our age. We put the call out to our families, asking them to join us in supporting Australian troops serving overseas by helping us create care packages. We have been overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity! We have 8 care packages filled to the brim with special treats and a letter of... thanks that will be given to people we have never met, who are sacrificing everything for people they have never met. Thank you so much for getting involved and for being so generous. What an amazing village we have Monique Ferrario Gai Ferrario

21.01.2022 This morning these little friends had fun with our loose parts basket. Mr N chose puzzle blocks, pom poms, a body puff, cardboard rolls, a saucepan lid, some plastic lids and connector blocks. The children banged and clanged, built and knocked over so many different constructions! When the items were tipped out, the basket made a great hiding spot!... 21.01.2022 Did you know that there are over 20,000 species of bees?! They can be found almost everywhere in the world, except for Antarctica! Our flowers are ready to be picked from the garden, so now we’re learning about all of the things that help flowers grow - including bees!... Learning outcome 2.4: Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment. #learningthroughplay #familydaycareaustralia #familydaycare #bees #beefacts

20.01.2022 Today we learnt all about frogs! Frogs are amphibious which means they can live on the land and in water! They eat flies, bugs, worms, spiders and insects! A group of frogs is called an army! ... Frogs start as an egg, they hatch into a tadpole before growing into a frog! If frogs are in danger, they have a lot of survival tools to keep them safe, like playing dead, hopping away or puffing up! Frogs help control the insect population by eating them! We all worked together to recreate 5 little speckled frogs by making our own pond and helped each frog splash into the water as we sang the song Learning outcome 1.4: Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect Gai Ferrario Monique Ferrario

18.01.2022 As an extension from yesterday's learning about frogs, today we learnt about some other animals that can live in the water. Neek froze some water animals to turn this into a sensory learning, as well as a fun way to cool down on a hot day! We learnt that: Dolphins breath out of a hole on top of their head called a blowhole... Turtles are reptiles and they move very slowly Leopard seals are very dangerous The blue whale is the largest animal that ever lived - even bigger than a dinosaur! Polar bears live in the artic where it is very cold Throughout this experience, the children used their senses to explore the play environment by holding the ice, watching and feeling it melt. The children used play to investigate the animals and learn facts about each one as the ice melted and they became more visible. 15.01.2022 This morning we read the beautiful book written by Mem Fox called 'I'm Australian too', that talks about all of the different cultures that make Australia so special. Reading this book opened up conversations about the broader community and cultural identities. By discussing the different families in the book, the children were able to talk about the similarities and differences between people, like the activities they were doing, different features, the different foods and t...he different homes that the families have. Learning outcome 2.2: Children respond to diversity with respect #readingwithkids #culture #familydaycareaustralia #familydaycare
