Anybody who is interested to find out what we do which is more than fire fighting, we would be pleased to see you, grab a cuppa and some light refreshments supplied by an awesome Auxiliary, even if you would just like to have a look around the fire station this would be a good time to do so. Looking forward to seeing you all. Any questions, please contact: Capt Brian Barwick on 0497 722 477 for Community Safety Co-ordinator Alan Richardson on 0427 976 582.

18.01.2022 With the increased numbers of people working from home or remotely from their normal workplace, CFA is warning of the potential for increased risk of structural fires. Makeshift arrangements that allow for normal school or office work to be performed at home has the potential to increase the risk of fire. There have been many instances that our favourite appliances cause house fires due to overheating or faulty electrical equipment.

09.01.2022 As a brigade, we agree with the original promotion in the paper of turning an outside light on for one minute or use a torch.

09.01.2022 While out and about in the area, we bumped into Santa and asked him if he would come back to the fire station on the fire truck to meet the Neerim South Primary School students. Santa agreed and wished the students and teachers a Merry Christmas and also helped hand out icy poles which the students loved. We also asked Santa if he could come back Sunday night for the Carols and he agreed, so we are looking forward to seeing him there.

09.01.2022 The combined Emergency Services of Neerim South helped Santa visit the local area.

07.01.2022 Tomorrow night (Tuesday 26th March) is just around the corner for our first Information Night for new members, see below information. Look forward to seeing you there! Neerim South Fire Brigade is on the lookout for new members. The Neerim South Fire Brigade will be actively calling on residents over the next couple of months to help their local community.... The Brigade is seeking active men and women who can perform duties as firefighters. But theres more to volunteering with CFA than just firefighting. The Brigade needs people who can assist with important community education programs, promotions, displays, fundraising and administrative activities. Captain Brian Barwick said all CFA volunteers receive nationally accredited training and develop skills that can be used outside CFA, including in the workplace or at home. Volunteer membership offers new members fresh challenges as well as a chance to meet new people and give something back to their local community, he said. Over the coming weeks the brigade will be undertaking recruitment activities, including local information sessions starting on 26 March at 7.30 pm with future dates to be advised and I urge all community minded residents to get involved in CFA. As Victorias largest volunteer organisation, CFA is a great way to involve the whole family in community service. If you are interested in joining CFA or would like further information on local information sessions, contact the members below on their details. The Neerim South Fire Brigade also attended the Neerim District Community Bank information night on the 27th February at the Neerim South Football & Netball Club Phoenix Rooms. A representative from the brigade was one of the guest speakers on the night discussing Fire Safety and the brigade had a table full of fire safety handouts. We would like to thank the Neerim District Community Bank for the opportunity to speak on the night and congratulate the local Organisations and Clubs who submitted their presentations. We have also been very busy with fires in the area and are currently still involved in fire suppression. Please be aware that Fire Restrictions are still in force and the area is still very dry, so we need to continue to be vigilant around our properties until we receive some significant rainfall. 07.01.2022 Over the next few days you may see some of our fire trucks as we significantly increase our capability to protect communities in East Gippsland. These trucks in... convoy (strike teams and task forces) are travelling to be in position a head of expected dangerous fire weather from Saturday to Tuesday. Please be mindful that with such a large deployment (additional 65 CFA trucks heading east along the Princes Hwy) you may encounter some minor delays. They will be travelling in convoy of five trucks and a leader vehicle. They will require refuelling at some locations to be in position Saturday. Our approach to safety is front of mind in all of our operations. With large numbers of CFA trucks heading along the Princes Hwy in their Strike Team / Task Force configuration, we will make every effort to minimise any inconvenience while also maintaining safety for our crews and others on the road. This additional CFA support from the outer metropolitan area of Melbourne and other locations across Victoria is part of CFAs surge capacity to move large numbers of Firefighters according to risk. This latest deployment is on the back of our 55 CFA Tankers and crews that were recently sent to NSW Bushfires rotating over the past 2 months (now returned to Victoria).

03.01.2022 The Fire Danger Period for the Baw Baw and South Gippsland shires will commence at 1am on December 14, 2020. CFA declares the Fire Danger Period at the onset of warmer weather when fires in the open air are legally restricted. This is to help prevent fires from starting as dry vegetation and hot weather increase the incidence of fires accidentally starting and spreading. Certain restrictions on the lighting of fires are in force during the Fire Danger Period. The CFA websit...e provides information on what people can and can’t do during the declared Fire Danger Period and days of Total Fire Ban. Residents who suspect illegal burning off during the declared fire danger period should report it to the Police on Triple Zero (000). The penalties for lighting fires illegally during the Fire Danger Period and on Total Fire Ban Days include large fines and possible imprisonment. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/can

02.01.2022 Thank you Charlie, if you require to burn off in future, please call to register your burn off with CFA on 1800 668 511 and if it does get out of control, please do not hesitate to contact 000 as you did last night.
