20.01.2022 Just spent a perfect day at the Summerhouse gardening in the sunshine, with beautiful blue wrens being so very excited with the bugs flying around after our trimming and mowing

17.01.2022 The word is out! The fishing at Nelson is the best ever at the moment with a metre long mulloway caught at Donovan’s jetty in the last week. This photo is Isle of Bags Jetty 5 minutes walk from the Summerhouse.

07.01.2022 Nelson’s picturesque landscape and iconic Glenelg River are being showcased in a new digital marketing campaign. Three, new 30 second commercials titled Nelson ... Gateway to the Glenelg River will debut on the WIN TV network over the weekend, running throughout the summer months, in addition to a social media campaign, highlighting the coastal town’s key tourist attractions. A number of local families, business owners and some willing tourists assisted with the two-day shoot led by Glenelg Shire Council’s tourism and marketing unit in conjunction with local filmmakers Powerhouse Productions. Mayor Cr Anita Rank said the marketing campaign highlighted the town’s position on the Great Ocean Road and role as the gateway to the Glenelg River. Watching this latest production further highlights that we indeed live in one of the most picturesque parts of the world, Cr Rank said. Nelson is an iconic holiday destination for the avid fisherman, water lover or bush walker. We are confident this new campaign will highlight the township to a new audience who will be lured by this picturesque campaign, adding the region to their holiday wish list. As the western start of the Great Ocean Road, Nelson has an important role to play in the state’s tourism market and we are confident its popularity will grow well into the future, particularly with international travellers, given the beauty, fun and adventure of this latest campaign. A highlight in the promotion is the audio clip by popular band the Go-Set which are much-loved regular performers at the Nelson Hotel. Front man, Justin Keenan, who owns property in Nelson, said the bands track The Rising Tide was a fitting tribute for the campaign, with lyrics highlighting holidaying in the summer. It was great to be involved in the promotion of a town our band hold’s close to our hearts, he said. Nelson has a way of capturing you; its beautiful scenery, friendly people, and great activities have a way of luring you back year-after-year. No matter where we've been in our travels on tour, Nelson has always been the place we've come back to. It's become our second home."
