23.01.2022 VALE - Jamie Dettmer - SMSC It is with great sadness that we let our members know of the recent passing of SMSC stalwart, Jamie Dettmer. Nepean FA offer our deepest condolences to the Dettmer family and to St Marys Soccer Club members who have lost a very dear friend. The following notice is provided by SMSC;... In the early hours of Saturday, 10th October 2020, Lisa Dettmer lost her beloved husband, the family lost their dearest Dad & Pop & the St Marys Soccer Club lost a committee man, a coach and our dear, valuable & irreplaceable friend Jamie Dettmer. He could only be described as a true advocate, adviser, icon & everybody’s mate @ the soccer club. He was awarded Life Membership of the Club many years ago of which he held very dear & with honour. Jamie became involved with the club 23 years ago when Nicole & Michael joined the club as little tots, and was soon encouraged to join the committee. Before long Jessica joined up & when Lauren reached playing age she was the 4th playing member from Jamie’s family. His son-in-law Steve has played for the club for many, many years & now 2 of Jamie’s grandsons have just completed their 1st year as players. Families forged very strong friendships that will last forever throughout the club & Jamie was front & centre in all things good. He coached his kid’s mini & junior teams continuously & tirelessly until they were in their teens then took over the reins of the All Age Ladies Teams in the club. There was not one player, game, score or event that took place that Jamie could not remember. Jamie filled many committee positions over the years from vice president, social secretary, competition secretary, publicity officer, sports manager & of more recent seasons the canteen manager. He was always forefront in decision making & purchasing of the clubs new strips & merchandise when necessary & was always in control of the handing out & return of team kits. But I’m sure there would be no argument that Jamie is best known for his famous St Marys Soccer Club Canteen BBQ. For years he would be tirelessly cooking & overseeing the BBQ which was well known of around the association’s grounds & local neighbourhood. You will be sadly missed Jamie by all members of the club but fond memories of you will be held by all who crossed your path. Vale Jamie, (St Marys Soccer Club)

22.01.2022 Today is International Day of the Volunteer. Community sport in Australia rides on the backs of volunteers, no matter what code is played, as do so many other areas of our community life. To the 1000's of Volunteers within our affiliated clubs and to those who serve our Association directly, be it on boards as Directors, on panels convened to deal with specific areas of governance, as Coaches, Managers, Trainers, Club Committees, Ground Maintenance crews, social media man...agers, whatever it is you do so your community can enjoy sport and continue to keep the costs down, without having to pay wages to everyone who works to deliver it, THANK YOU! We couldn't do it without you. Ask anyone who volunteers, and they'll tell you about the many benefits that it brings to their lives. If you don't volunteer already, think about giving a few hours a week, a month or a year back to your community in some way. Either in sport, with the elderly, your local school, the needy or with an organisation who needs volunteers to deliver what they do. Even A-League clubs like Western Sydney Wanderers FC have a troop of volunteers!. So whatever it is that interests you, if you've got a couple of hours to spare, put your hand up and enjoy the experience. And if you don't volunteer, that's ok to, but don't forget to say thank you to those who do so you can enjoy life without paying too much for it. 09.01.2022 Nepean FA, after meeting with Football NSW and other Associations are happy to confirm that Nepean FA activities will not be affected in any way by recent NSW Health recommendations for community sport. Associations, regardless if they run across multiple LGAs or not, are essentially considered their own zone, and can therefore continue to run as is. Social media is currently producing many images where social distancing is clearly not being practised or given enough regard, If community sport continues to disregard Covid-safe plans and measures, we risk being shut down, so please, stay vigilant and follow the directions given to you by your club or host club and continue to employ Covid-safe measures.

04.01.2022 COVID -19 - WHAT HAPPENS IF Were receiving a few questions around what happens if a person or persons in a team have been told to self isolate. Unfortunately, its likely that this question will become more prevalent over the coming weeks due to the recent Sydney outbreaks. As a team or a club, first thing to do is not panic! If one or a few people in your team need to self-isolate, you dont need to all self-isolate unless youve been in close contact (as describe by N...SW Health) and are displaying Coronavirus symptoms. There is no need to forfeit your match at this stage, unless of course thats what youve decided to do, collectively, as a team in which case the normal forfeit penalties will apply. Personally, your first action should be to contact the National Coronavirus hotline on 1800 020 080. You should never take your advice from anyone other than those qualified to provide it. Our information issued to all clubs prior to the competition starting was : If multiple team members become infected (or if there are many in your team who are self-isolating at the same time and leaves your team unable to field at least 7 players) then we imagine that it may require the team to stand down from competitions until cleared to resume. Unfortunately the reduced timelines that we have to conduct our season would necessitate that the team would forfeit their fixtures while they cant compete. In these cases, if the club provides medical certificates for the affected players, we would waive the forfeit fine, on the presentation of the requested medical certificates confirming either CV or a negative result. Remember, continue to practice good handwashing, sanitizing and social distancing, dont hang around before & after training & games and dont hand-shake, hug or huddle... all these simple measures go a long way to keeping infection down and everyone safe.
