14.01.2022 So we’ve had a week in lockdown. How has your week been? I’ve seen lots of lovely posts of ‘home schooling / home preschooling’. We’ve all been thrown into a ...situation which none of us expected or planned for. Please don’t feel pressured into getting your children to fill in worksheets after worksheets to ‘prove’ that you’re ‘teaching’ your child. Let’s take this opportunity to go back to basics, to embed the foundation for learning and to actually be able to spend quality time with our little Schnoops without all the craziness of the normal routine. The lessons you can teach your child by playing with them and spending quality time with them are truly priceless. You are teaching your child such important lessons; to feel valued, to feel loved, to be kind, to share attention, to follow their interests and see how far you can take them, to play and have fun!! Everyone is feeling a bit anxious and no one knows how long this is going to go on for so let’s just pause and try to enjoy this extra time we have with our little ones. I’m not expecting my class or my own children to be sat at the table doing ‘work’ for hours on end. Let’s play!!!

10.01.2022 Today we celebrated Japanese Children’s Day - Kodomo no hi. We where lucky enough to have three parents come in and assist with Miss Shiori to make our morning very special. The children had hand rolled sushi for morning tea, while participating in origami, a chopsticks challenge and painted Japanese symbols.

09.01.2022 This week (and next week in some states and territories), teachers and educators (early childhood and OSCH ) across the country will go to schools and centres where they will interact with children of our brave and wonderful health staff who are highly exposed to COVID-19. They will not be given face masks or protective clothing. They probably won't even be given hand gel. They won't get free coffee, half price pizza or special shopping hours. They will perform their jobs in ...ways they have never done before and they will do it with a smile on their faces so that the children in their care don't know how scared they are; Scared for those children. Scared for their own. Scared of being responsible for taking the virus home to loved ones. Thank you to all Teachers, educators, cooks, teaching assistants and support staff and anyone else heading into a schools and centres this week to keep it running so that our Doctors, Nurses and other essential workers and carers can take care of the sick and the vulnerable, our shops can stay open and deliveries can continue. 04.01.2022 Commemorating ANZAC Day is a very import part of being an Australian and New Zealander. Today we all remember and honour the Australian men and women who sacrificed their lives in Gallipoli during the First World War. We also pay respect to all the past, present and future Service Men and Women including whom have served for our country. As our children are all under 5 years old we have focused on sharing the collective pride we have for our country. We have shared what the... spirit of ANZAC means to us all - courage, mateship and sacrifice. We spoke about the freedom we have and how we all feel safe because of their sacrifice and how we should all care for each other and the world as a whole. We shared a moment of silence in honour those who have fought so hard for our freedom, while we listened to the Last Post, standing side by side and holding hands.
