25.01.2022 Family Visitors today enjoying the alpaca experience from bottle feeding, cria cuddling through to tonights feedout to the herd. Sharon is a great farm labourer. She also learnt that although very cute, the white spotty cria is bound to be a wether with super soft fleece like a "startled rabbit." So we are training him already to be a pet that can be handled all over, lift legs. Then later to easily lead through obstacles.
24.01.2022 ROYAL QLD SHOW My new best friend. I wonder if Calvary Christian College will notice if I steal her?? And mum would not notice the new addition in the paddock.
23.01.2022 Thank you to Bundaberg - Gin Gin breeders for the fantastic Alpacas Workshop held at Littabella Alpacas this weekend and hosting the AAA Qld AGM. There were a number of new local owners plus AAA alpaca breeders from as far as Rockhampton and Southern Qld attending. In particular thanks to host Nicole Read, and co-presenters Fiona Laughton, Bev Callaghan, Shane McMahon and my travel buddy Kelli Pfeiffer for sharing their knowledge on alpacas.
20.01.2022 BUNDABERG AGROTREND 2019 We arrived in Bundy at 4pm Thursday, unpacked gear and alpacas, set up camp by 5pm; to be ready for Young Paraders events first up on Friday 10/4/19. Fantastic day with Parader Judge Courtney Gordon, and Apprentice Parader Judge Katelyn Holznagel & Adrienne Clarke judging 28 Parader conpetitors. Thank you to Convenor Sandi Robertson and volunteers for a great day.
19.01.2022 CENTRAL QLD BREEDERS at North Rockhampton Nursing Centre Rockhampton Show Day for Residents Thank you to the NRNC for inviting us back again to participate in your Show Day for the residents. We have been doing this since 2016 as Dad was once a resident here. The interaction between the residents and the alpacas touches my heart every year.... Thank you for participating, breeders - Nerimbera - Mum (92 and still active in displays) Majeska - Paul, Kelly & Katelyn Holznagel plus Lulu, Percy & the show Queen Jemie Capricorn Park - Desley Barlow Lovely day, happy moments created.
19.01.2022 SHEARING IN CENTRAL QLD We support local breeders whenever we can with shearing in our area: Kerray: Sunday 25/8... Nerimbera: Monday 26/08 - Thank you team who helped us with: - Shearer: Mike Snow - Skirting: Sue Goldsworthy & Desley Barlow - Loading/teeth: Kelli Pfeiffer & Byron - Tools: Don A - Table Fleeces: Cheryl Rani: Tuesday 27/08 Candisa: Wednesday 28/8 Capricorn Park: Saturday 31/08 Pfeiffer Park: Sunday 01/09 Majeska Alpacas: Monday 02/09 - Unfortunately I am back at work then - next year hopefully to help. Shearing photo at Rani today - Nerimbera Araretta on the table. We were too busy to get photos at Nerimbera yesterday. However a new game has started - sneaking up on alpacas sunbaking and then "whisper" hello. So far Crystal is winning the competition on who can jump the highest.
18.01.2022 We were taking photos of the dams today for our records. These 3 reminded me of ... Hear no evil See no evil I am "Evil"
17.01.2022 There is one in every herd - water trough hog Ruby Rose. Everyone else had to crowd around the other side.
15.01.2022 SHEARING IN CENTRAL QLD Candisa Alpacas turn today for a visit from Snowy. Photos of the "Awesome Four" shearing team (Richard & Sue Goldsworthy, Snowy & me) and the last fleece on the table being skirted by Sue.
13.01.2022 Qld Colourbration Show - Maleny Arrived safely in Maleny after a god-awful last 30klm on a goat track windy road up a mountain!! Never again that "short cut". Pacs all tucked up in pens in a lovely sheltered corner in the shed. Other breeders are asking how much did I pay the convenor for that!! Thank you Jeff & Jill Willis for being so kind. Owe you 2 big time.... And this is the first show I am NOT camping next to a pen. It is very wet & cold in Maleny & I have an aircon heated motel room for the 2 nights we are here. See what happens Kelli Pfeiffer & Desley Barlow when you are not on the road trip to monitor what I do! Thank you to the Holznagel family (Majeska) for keeping an eye on the PPA & Nerimbera pacs. If it gets too wet in the tent tonight remember that the Nerimbera float is a dry option to use.
13.01.2022 Thank you to Central Qld alpaca breeders helping with Nerimbera Shearing 2020. Shearing is done and (very) dusted for 2020. Mum, Byron & I could not have done this without the help of alpaca breeders - Shearer Mike Snow - CQ Team - Desley Barlow, Sue Goldsworthy, Don & Rosalie Altschwager Ray Tommassan. ... Now our turn to help out at Pfeiffer Park, Capricorn Park, Rani & Kerray Alpacas over the weekend. Thank you for the photos Sue. Sorry we were not able to help Candisa this year.
08.01.2022 NERIMBERA ALPACAS First cria for 2019 - a 6.14kg girl found today at 2:30pm, very dry and up walking around, heading for the milk bar. Maybe a roan. Basic checks done as there was not much else we could do as the dam is very protective / fiesty and sprayed us with smelly green slime. Dam - Dunchatten Alakazam... Sire - Arcady Moody Blue See more
06.01.2022 Bundaberg Agroatrend 2019: Thank you to Judge Adrienne Clarke for the informative feedback on placings in the halter classes; Convenor Sandi Robertson and volunteers local Bundy breeders for running a great regional show last weekend. Although it is a 4-hour drive each way, it is our "local" show and well worth our support and a great opportunity to catch up with fellow breeders. We have been focussing on breeding greys and entered a small team who placed:... - Nerimbera Celli - 1st Jnr H Grey Male - Nerimbera Blue Sunset - 2nd Jnr H Roan Male - Nerimbera Setting Moon - 1st Adult H Grey Female - Nerimbera Stokel - 2nd Adult H Grey Male See more
06.01.2022 Nerimbera's last cria for the year born today: A girl Rose Grey 6.89kg Dam - Sunset Rose... Sire - Arcady Moody Blue And I am MIA yet again - good job mum & bro doing the husbandry.
05.01.2022 Wyona Sundance's mothering skills - How to control an annoying kid... Also he has no chance of raiding the milk bar.... Thank you to Kelly Holznagel for the photo.
02.01.2022 Thank you Angela Procter-Samways of AllyHar Alpacas for running a felting workshop teaching us how to make dryer balls and felted soap. Well worth the 4-hr drive from Rockhampton to Bundaberg.
