21.01.2022 The theory of how the universe was created has vastly changed since my days back at school. More recently scientists have found that ancient sound waves actually sculpted the universe. I just love this, and that without primordial sound, there would be no galaxies, stars, planets or people! Primordial Echo... 100cm x 100cm Mixed Media on Canvas See more

20.01.2022 MELTS INTO THE SEA Nerina Lascelles captures reverent moments of inner peace beautifully in her large paintings . The use of gold and silver leaf, screen p...rinted patterns and a haze of encaustic wax combine to create a sensitive reverence towards commonly overlooked objects including branches of gum leaves, blossom in flower or a flowing stream. The paintings are material objects that depict an image which arose from the essence and which, at their highest function, will offer the viewer a window to their own invisible essence within. 20.01.2022 Shimmering new beginnings in the studio today while basking in the exuberance of this annual 8:8 astrological alignment. Every year on and around the 8th day of the 8th month of the year, there is a cosmic alignment, between Earth and the star Sirius, called the Lions Gateway." It's a time of increased cosmic energy flowing between the physical and spiritual realms.... During the Lions Gate (26 July 18 Aug) our energies will be supercharged, our creation capabilities magnified, and our manifestation powers turned way on. Im not one to usually share such Spiritual aspects of my day through social media, but what a wonderful concept to focus our thought towards - during this time when fear and pessimism are tugging for our attention. 20.01.2022 Due to current circumstance @nillumbikartistsopenstudios unfortunately isnt physically running, as previously scheduled, for this very weekend. The good thing is that were still able to visit a number of the artists in a virtual tour as well as peruse artworks for sale in the online shop on the website. https://www.artistsopenstudios.com/online-shop Along with gorgeous pieces from so many of the artists in the program, I also have a few paintings available through the sh...op. This piece is one of a handful from way back in 2010 that were returned to my studio after a gallery recently closed its doors.

(Image - Artists impression of ...the completed project) As an extension of the ethos of sheBuilt, a Contemporary Art & Design Exhibition, featuring work from female artists, will be held 2nd 5th of April 2020, in the beautiful heritage building at 307 309 Clarendon St, whilst it is vacant, prior to redevelopment. 13.01.2022 Nerinas paintings, available online in our shop www.artistsopenstudios.com

13.01.2022 Its fun to imagine where a painting may find its forever home, and the process is really magical to witness. I also love to opportunity to deliver paintings personally to people who live locally. For me, to meet the collector and to view the paintings forever home somehow completes the cycle of creation. Its also just delightful when people send through photos of their paintings in-situ. Over the decades there have been well over a hundred paintings delivered across ...the land, and while I have quite a good memory as to which painting when to which lovely person, sometimes it gets a little hazy! Understandably, many people prefer to keep their homes private, but if anyone who has one of my works on their wall would be open to my posting a photo of their painting here, Id be just so thrilled to receive a message Ps - Just for the record, both of these works are still available!!

13.01.2022 For those interested, I'd love to share a few words behind my most recent body of work. If you missed out on seeing the exhibition, a number of these paintings will be displayed in my studio during Nillumbik Artists Open Studios.

12.01.2022 Paintings and shadows in the afternoon light - all wrapped and ready for collection this eve by the curator of an upcoming exhibition. Will keep you posted!

12.01.2022 Theres no denying that decades of visits to the family house at Moggs Creek, meditating on the swirling seas, changing skies, and the Great Ocean Road coastline, has heavily influenced my recent work. Thrilled to be now represented through @eaglesnestgallery in Airies Inlet Please feel free to visit online to view available works - www.eaglesnestgallery.com.au... 12.01.2022 Nillumbik Artists Open Studios is on again in just 3 weeks! A handsome new website for the upcoming season is now live where you can see new work from participating artists and download a studio map: www.artistsopenstudios.com

11.01.2022 A little snippet of video captured before this painting left the studio. I felt such a deep connection with the new owner of this painting as she openly shared her challenging personal story, and her intention to use this work as a meditation to remain connected to her luminous, peaceful essence - beneath the waves of tumult and grief. A meditation to connect with her shining bright moon, even when the clouds of the current challenge threaten to obscure its brilliance. Comple...tely honoured that we came together to mirror each other with such clarity and grateful for the reminder of our one heart Many paths lead from the foot of the mountain, but at the peak we all gaze at the single bright moon IKKYU (1394 ~ 1481)

11.01.2022 Gosh, hasnt 2019 flown by!! I do love this time of year, taking a moment to reflect on the highlights, trials and adventures of the previous year. Wishing everyone a very happy flip into 2020 Xxx

11.01.2022 Open Studios both this weekend and next weekend!

10.01.2022 I have nothing at all but this tranquility This coolness! Kobayashi Issa (1763-1828)... This beautiful haiku by Japanese master, Issa is the perfect title for this recent painting, created during this quiet, peaceful and indeed tranquil Winter lockdown here in Melbourne. For the first time in decades, it feels as though the hands of the clock have slowed, beckoning us to do the same. Waving gently with the reminder to perceive our day differently. To let go of all the lists, future dreams and plans whirring through our minds, and to soften into the stillness of this eternal moment.

09.01.2022 Really looking forward to this!!

09.01.2022 Delighted to be involved in such an exciting ‘all female’ project

05.01.2022 During the month of May, on any ordinary year, the studio doors of artists in my area are open to visitors. This year, the fabulous team at 42K Media have conducted a series of short virtual tours through the Nillumbik Artists Open Studios. Here's a quick visit to mine :)

05.01.2022 No noise, No confusion - All I want is this life Pillowed high in emerald mist - Li Po 701~762... Mixed Media on Canvas 76cm x 152cm

04.01.2022 While most of the posts that appear on my Facebook page relate to ‘works on canvas’, a few years ago, Linda Detoma and I completed a massive 32 panel (each 70cm x 60cm) commission which has been permanently installed in the Eltham Cemetery. More recently Linda and I collaborated to produce a personalised memorial panel for a lovely family who were looking for a tasteful and unique touch to the memorial of a loved one. In this 100cm x 60cm panel we were requested to include p...oetry and artwork created by members of the family, and a blue box gum tree from the family property. Of course, the whole business of losing our nearest and dearest is something we’d much prefer not to have to deal with, but when we are faced with such decisions, it appears that there are so few options when choosing a memorial. Linda and I have loved working with individuals, their families and with each other and would love to continue to create personalised memorials - whether that may be for a new site, or perhaps adding a personal touch to an existing headstone. If this is something that may be of interest for you and your family, please do get in touch. 02.01.2022 This seasons Nillumbik Artists Open Studios is off to a fabulous start today with so many lovely visitors and nourishing conversations. So thrilled to be a part of such a rewarding, meaningful and social event which is a healthy contrast to the relatively solo experience of studio-life. One visitor noticed the rays of the afternoon sun coming through the studio roof today, capturing a transient moment of illumination on the surface of this painting.... Looking forward to welcoming so many more lovely faces through the door this weekend!

01.01.2022 A little off track, but dad found these photos recently picturing his father, Walter Lascelles, painting on the Princes Bridge in Melbourne in the 50s. Walter was both a sign-writer and designed, constructed and installed neon signs back in the 1930s when the neon craze began. On the weekends, and at any spare occasion, Walter would travel by train to then camp out in the wild, capturing rural Victorian scenes in his paintings. ... While I didnt actually meet him, (hed sadly passed away before I was born) I think of him often as Im following in his genetic footsteps. As pride of place in my studio I have a bottle of his turpentine and linseed oil (from the 30s) which act as sentinels, keeping watch over all things creative.
