22.01.2022 Happy sad Gracious stylish caring domestic goddess Sue is ending her Nest chapter this week. We’ve been so grateful and blessed to have her for nearly 5 years. Fortunately we are related and she’ll still be working nearby so it’s not a final goodbye nonetheless a significant one. Sues last day is Saturday if you want to farewell in person. 15.01.2022 The crab apple. Apart from being a great name when someone is being stroppy, it is a captivating red mini apple-like fruit, grown on a small tree that has the prettiest spring blossom, inedible raw but gorgeous cooked with sugar (like many other fruits round here) and strained into a jammy jelly and enjoyed on toast. We haven’t got to that bit but I’m looking forward to the process. Hopefully jars of it ready for when we reopen Sat 22 May. Open tonight for pizza movie etc & ...Sat 15th 8-5pm market, movie, breakfast lunch then closed for property maintenance (and possibly jam making) til 21st. Who has had crab apple success? 10.01.2022 This week we are replanting dahlias, attacking out of control weeds and getting pretty and productive plants in our Nest garden. While digging, I exposed these burnt leaves from that ghastly black summer. We are ok but there’s many whose lives have forever changed, still grieving loss and struggling to recover and rebuild. There’s always more under the surface huh. Aching memories, destruction.. We often won’t know but we can always choose to be kind to all, and dig gently #gardenmusing #blacksummer
