21.01.2022 Having had the privilege of spending time in Africa with young impoverished children, this story really resonated with me. . . . . An anthropologist invited children from an African tribe to play a game. He placed a bowl filled with sweet fruit by a tree. He addressed the children saying: The one who gets to the tree first will be rewarded with all of the sweet fruits. When he signaled the children to start the race, they locked their hands together and ran toward the tree. They sat down at the tree together and shared the fruit. The astonished anthropologist asked the children why they had run together when each one of them had the opportunity to have all of the fruit for themselves. The children replied Ubuntu . Is it possible for one to be happy when everyone else is sad? Ubuntu means: I exist because we exist.

13.01.2022 This is one of my old favs I have shared that poem with my Early Childhood students for the past 18 years. It's a powerful message that rings so true to the impact we as educators have on children's creativity and emotional intelligence and then I usually set up a beautiful learning space like this. . . And ask 'what do you notice?' To which they respond, 'Every flower is unique'. Let us not crush children's creativity but open their eyes to beauty and give them the tools, the time and the resources for creative and expressive imagination
