06.01.2022 Level up by being Brave How often have we seen this happen and regretted not doing anything about it? I mean, why would an attacking player risk losing the ball? You can easily justify that you didn’t see it. Or it happened too late. ... This is the type of confidence and skill that is required to level up your umpiring. Make the calls, even if they make you feel uncomfortable. Even if the players disagree. High praise to the coach and player for Sunshine Coast Lightning. An acceptance of the call shows a level of athletic skill not often seen.

It takes years of hard work, athletic training and knowledge to achieve the heights of umpiring in any sport. All umpires should be proud of the effort and dedication they put in. Talking and explaining to players requires grace and confidence. These experiences are part of the umpiring experience and and important skill to master. It is essential to have a strong knowledge base and a calm and clear rule based language to speak to players. ...
