The SSN season gave so many people in Victoria a reason to smile, and it gave us the utmost joy to share the victory with our netball community. 22.01.2022 A new-look pathway competition will replace the Australian Netball League (ANL) in 2021! Suncorp Super Netball clubs and state and territory member organisations will enter teams into the Australian Netball Championships (ANC). It will be a tournament-style format at one location over one to two weeks! More info below.

14.01.2022 Congratulations to Victorian netballer, Gabby Coffey, who has tonight been awarded the 2020 2XU Victorian Institute of Sport Netball Coaches Award! Gabby was a part of the 2019 and 2020 Victorian Fury ANL squad and was also named in the Vixens Academy and the Australian 21/U squad this year. In preparation for the 2021 World Youth Cup, Gabby has made the brave decision to move to SA for six weeks due to border restrictions, so she is able to train and prepare to put herself in the best position to perform In a testing year, she has balanced her University studies (Bachelor of Arts) and her dedication to the VIS training program online whilst back in her home town of Alice Springs, while also taking the opportunity to work in her local primary school. Well done on an incredible year, Gabby!

13.01.2022 Despite mushrooms and knee-high weeds often sprouting from surface cracks that house a variety of local creatures - and that can be large enough to fit a human fist - the Hamilton Netball Association have struggled to secure funding to upgrade the Pedrina Park Netball Courts. 12.01.2022 This year marks the 20-year anniversary of the Melbourne Phoenix’s Premiership win against the Thunderbirds in 2000 Susan Meaney and Joyce Brown took a trip down memory lane with Linda Pearce reflecting on the narrow win, the friendships that formed and what rivalries were strong back then. The team consisted of a star-studded line up with the likes of McMahon, Chatfield, Southby, Meaney (Howie), Chokljat, Boniello and Dick, alongside Head Coach in Joyce. 11.01.2022 Congratulations to Victorian netballer and former Diamond, Caitlin Thwaites, who has been named joint winner of the Victorian Institute of Sport Sarah Tait Spirit Award with Australian Opal Jenna O’Hea! The impact which Caitlin has on team culture is immense. Always ready to lend a helping hand to teammates or provide an ear to listen. 10.01.2022 Coming in at number 3 are the Surf Coast Suns Football Netball Club , who did an amazing job of celebrating National NAIDOC week, debuting their incredible 2020 Indigenous dress and performing a Welcome to Country. Local artist Nathan Patterson designed the dress, named Together under one sun. It was created under the clubs Indigenous Awareness program, with support from the Torquay Community Enterprise - TCE. Well done, @surfcoastsuns!

06.01.2022 Number 4 saw the return of our next generation stars to the court! The Netball Australia National Centre of Excellence Camp got our 19/U and 17/U athletes back on court together, and the Victorian members of the 21/U Australian World Youth Cup squad got in on the action as well! Our emerging elite athletes have worked so hard throughout a turbulent year, and we were so proud to see them back doing what they do best.

02.01.2022 Our number 1 photo of the year the incredibly brave and resilient Buchan Football Netball Club pulling together throughout the bushfires which impacted so many across our state. The Buchan Recreation Reserve became more than a sporting facility throughout the fires it was a place for community to congregate safely throughout the crisis. 01.01.2022 Congratulations to Victorian netballer and coach, Nicole Richardson, on her appointment as Collingwood Magpies Netball’s Head Coach! A well-deserved title as Nicole adds to her already formidable resume! Nicole captained the Melbourne Kestrels and played 94 games, while becoming an Australian Diamond and a Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist in 2002! Off the court Nicole has been head coach of the Victorian 17/U, 19/U and 21/U State teams, as well as assistant coach for the Victorian Fury, while more recently the West Coast Fever specialist coach and Collingwood Magpies Netball assistant coach! Good luck to you Nicole, best wishes from all of us at Netball Victoria!
