21.01.2022 Working with a delicate lace bridal gown today. The bodice is too big over the bust, so the lace will need to be cut and repositioned to fit over the satin underlay which has also been altered. I love to see beautiful fitting bridal gowns, which are in themselves a work of art

17.01.2022 Men can have their favourites made too A few weeks ago I made Chris a custom designed jacket. He was able to find this dark grey canvas fabric at spotlight. It was perfect for this jacket, being a heavier weight. It was great working with Chris, to making the patterns for his design, and sewing the jacket together. Happy results

17.01.2022 This time of the year is always enjoyable as I love making beautiful gowns. Black organza formal gown. The bodice has rouched organza stitched over black satin, which has been fully boned. The skirt has 6 mths of organza tightly gathered and cut away from the hem at diagonals to the hip to create a waterfall effect

15.01.2022 Sewing Classes Update: this vacancy has now been filled I do however have a vacancy just now for my Wednesday night class 5-30 to 7-30 ... Available now A vacancy exists in my Tuesday sewing class in Alstonville. Weekly, 10 am to 12-30 $45 per lesson. Vacancies do not come along often, so if you are looking to improve your sewing skills or learn to sew, this is your opportunity. This class has a lovely group of ladies and a very relaxed atmosphere. Bring your own sewing machine or alternatively you can use mine. Overlockers are also provided for your use. 13.01.2022 It has been an Incredibly busy year keeping up with the bridal gown demand for alterations. This beautiful dress was too big in the bodice. It is sheer lace and has boning on each seam. I was able to take in the centre front seam and add a dart under each bust... cutting around the lace motifs on the front bodice, to re sew them in place.... so finished bodice looks like it has not been altered, yay

13.01.2022 I think I need to name my dressmakers model. Here she is wearing a lovely formal dress. This dress needed altering as it was too big in the bodice. I was able to take all the roulette loops out and cut the back bodice smaller from the boning at the top and taper down to the waist. Then the fun begins by stitching all these loops back in place, attaching new boning, and attaching the lining to the bodice. Whew! All done

12.01.2022 Grace Loves Lace Bridal gowns are very popular atm. This gown was too long at the front, it has a train so the back does not need shortening. The hem has a lace edging, so I am able to unpick it at the front, and stitch it back on after I have cut the correct length. The lace behind the scallop can then be cut back to show the lace edging around the hem. making dresses fit perfectly

11.01.2022 It must be the love for bridal wear that gives me the patience to sit and unpick lace, tulle and satin. This gown is to big in the bust, it has 4 layers of fabric to alter, with lace motifs and boning Wedding dresses can be very intricate, especially when you are altering them. My passion is to see them fit perfectly, it is a challenge that will always keep me on my toes.

10.01.2022 First day back at work today and already I have 10 brides who need a wedding dress rescue I am so happy I can do this for them . Today I am reheming a gown that is too long. It has a lace edging which has been stitched on.. These hems are fiddly but easy enough to fix, lots of unpicking and reshaping the lace to the new length.. ( while soft relaxing music is playing )
