25.01.2022 This time last week these 5 beautiful women and their support people completed their final week of HypnoBirthing classes. From now until they birth their baby they, with their support person continue to practice these skills. This week I have another 12 Mums and their support people starting their 5 week... HypnoBirthing class. If you would like to know more about HypnoBirthing be sure to register for my Free HypnoBirthing Information Session at https://www.newbeginningsbirth.com.au/Information-Session #hypnobirthingclass #positivebirth #canberramums #Hypnobirthingcanberra #transformbirth #newbeginningsbirth #canberradoula

22.01.2022 I know there has been a lot of interest in screenings of the the Birth Time documentary View trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vXkYqTPvKM Screening at Hoyts Belconnen on Thursday 24th June at 2pm: https://tickets.demand.film/event/10986?ref=WVRrroVb... Screening at Hoyts Woden on Thursday 24th June at 6:30pm: https://tickets.demand.film/event/11061?ref=WVRrroVb This documentary is the result of what happens when three women embark on a mission to find out why an increasing number of women are emerging from their births physically and emotionally traumatised. Their discoveries expose the truth and lead them to join the birth revolution and forge a movement that hopes to change the face of maternity care in Australia and across the developed world. The trailer and the number of awards won really speak for themselves. There will be an opportunity to talk, debrief and ask questions at the end of the screening. This film isn't just for those that have given birth. It is thought provoking, emotional, funny and will open your eyes. It will stir something deep within to help change the maternity system. Bring your partners, sisters, mothers, friends and make it a social event. Babies/toddlers are welcome to attend.

21.01.2022 The system plays a massive role as to how women experience birth. Traumatic should not be a feeling associated with birth but yet at least 1/3 of women describe their birth as traumatic. I have personally experienced the fear and coercion that goes on. I have witnessed care providers use bullying to get women to agree to procedures and it needs to stop. The system is the problem, not women. Our bodies are not broken, the system is.... https://thewest.com.au//the-traumatic-births-that-haunt-mo

20.01.2022 We have met the minimum numbers. This screening is going ahead. Let's make it a sell out!

20.01.2022 This is not exactly how I had hoped to start a busy week of teaching HypnoBirthing to expectant parents. Fortunately, roadside assistance came to my rescue and cut off the plastic that had been damaged and was dragging under the car because of the copious amount of water on the road. I may have been late to my private session but I'm dedicated to my couples to provide education and support on their incredible journey.

20.01.2022 This HypnoBirthing Class series is now FULLY BOOKED! Watch this space for new class announcement.

18.01.2022 Those of you that know me know I am passionate about supporting Australian owned and made products. This passion is the reason that I have moved from Woolworths biscuits at my information sessions to Kookas Country Cookies Pty Ltd I tried these biscuits many moons ago and I am proud to be supporting an Australian made & owned company. With 3 flavours to choose from, Chocolate/Raspberry, Raspberry or lemon, which one will be the most popular?... Don't worry, the supper supplied at HypnoBirthing classes are all home baked

18.01.2022 We live in a time where it has become normal to disregard the importance of a woman’s experience of birth. It is not widely known that our birth and birthing experiences deeply impact the way we navigate the world and our capacity to engage in and enjoy motherhood. The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world," Professor Hannah Dahlen Hannah Dahlen -women, midwives, politics of birth is just one of the professionals that is part of this incredible documentary into the Aus...tralian maternity system. 14.01.2022 I was super busy today, I held 2 HypnoBirthing Information sessions, followed by a doula meet and greet. In one of the Information sessions after we watched a birth video, I asked the attendees what they noticed about that birth. One of Dads to be said something along the lines of how emotional he felt as bub was being born. In society, men are often taught to hide their feelings. I loved that this man felt safe to talk about emotions in my class. HypnoBirthing classes aren't just for the birthing woman. As a HypnoBirthing educator I recognise that support people bring intimate knowledge of the birthing woman. I then give them the confidence and the skills to be able to fully support the birthing mother.

14.01.2022 What a great way to meet other mums and help our community

09.01.2022 I'm certain she didn't have to 'negotiate' her VBAC https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-bristol-53874594

08.01.2022 Everytime I do a birth debrief.....

06.01.2022 Oh how I wish I could kidnap Dr Lionel Steinberg aka Lionel Vaginal or at least clone him. We need more women centred care providers, who trust the birthing process rather than pretend they do.

06.01.2022 Last week the latest study by Hannah Dahlen -women, midwives, politics of birth was released. This study explores the outcomes of both Mother and infants in low risk pregnancies, comparing those that had an Induction of Labour (IOL) to those that went into spontaneous labour. The results show that for first time mothers, there were many more incidents of: - Instrumental Birth - Caesarean Section... - Epidural use - Episiotomy - Postpartum Haemorrhage To me this is a no-brainer, why is there a rush to bring labour on in a "low risk" pregnancy. Studies continue to show that the rates of perinatal mortality has not improved with with interventions in this group of women. It is SO important that if a care provider is suggesting induction for non medical reasons i.e."Big Baby", over due that you ask what are the risks of the procedure, how could this change my birth outcomes etc. It is your right to make an informed decision. You can read the full study at https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/11/6/e047040
