25.01.2022 Congratulations to our Club member Jason Hewitt. Jason took out the Peter Goadby trophy at the GFAA National awards. This trophy goes to the angler who catches the heaviest shark in Australian waters for the 2019-20 season. The Tiger Shark weighed 515.2kg.

13.01.2022 Hi Guys & Girls, It’s is with great regret we have to announce the cancellation of the 2020 NGFC Presentation & AGM After much deliberation & discussion with the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, it became apparent the Covid restrictions would not allow us to hold these events successfully. We also want to keep our members & families safe.... We will be announcing the winners for the 2019 / 20 game fishing season shortly & deferring our AGM to be held when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted or present 2020 financial information to members at the 2021 AGM as per the NSW Fair Trading guidelines. The organising for the 2021 East Coast Classic & the AIBT tournaments are in the planning / developing stages & progressing well with some great sponsors coming onboard already !!! We will keep you up to date as it progresses. We hope to plan a get together before the season starts, maybe in an outdoor area.

12.01.2022 The 2021 Australian International Billfish Tournament ( AIBT ) has been run & won. Congratulations to the winning boat Wild Thing who also won AIBT Champion Angler, great job guys !!!!! The Wild Thing team qualify to represent Australia at the 2022 World Championships in Costa Rica !!!! Congratulations to the AIBT runner up boat Seaka, well done also guys !!! The fishing was a little slow & the fleet was down in numbers due to the scheduled March Tournament postponed due to ...bad weather. The weather for this tournament was perfect & everyone involved had a great time with enough fish to keep the fleet occupied & fighting hard for positions on the score board. Big thanks to the AIBT Major sponsors SIMRAD & Newcastle Yacht Club for their ongoing support !! It was humbling for the fleet to do a Sail Past Procession in front of the Newcastle Brewery proudly flying the Australian flag at half mast to honour the Anzacs & the current ADF where they all were having a private breakfast. The fleet then proceeded out the heads to congregate in front of Fort Scratchley where they waited to hear the gun fire to signify a minutes silence. The gun then fired a second time to signal the start of fishing. Keep you eye out for the aerial shots & video from Aero Logistics to be released shortly :) We hope to see you all there next year when it will be bigger & better !! See more
