Roy passed Sunday night at his home here in Hervey Bay. I would like express my condolence to the friends and Family of Roy on behalf of New Life Christian Church and our family at this time. 01.01.2022 2020 sure has been a very interesting year for everyone. When we look back on 2020 in years to come I wonder what we will say. Will we say that was the year the world went crazy? The year that a virus spread across the globe? The year peoples hearts were paralysed by fear? Or will be a year that we look back on as a year that shaped us into people that moved more confidently into their future? Who really knows? What I do know is that there are years that we look back on and ...in reflection see how much the events of that year shaped us into the people we are today. As I sit here I can look back at such years in my life. 2017 was one of the years as was 2005. I couldnt look pass 1997,2000,2001 wow some amazing life changing events in those years. There are other years of course but the one which has probably influenced my life more then any other is 1982. 1982 sounds like such a long time ago now but it was a year that had a profound impact on my life. It was the year I read my first novel (The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe). It was the year that I ended up in hospital after coming off the back of a family friends motorcycle. Broken arm, grazed chest and a nice hole in my leg that needed stitches. It was also the year that my Father stepped out of my world after giving me my 9th birthday present(a green sleeping bag) and telling me he loved me. It would be almost a decade until I saw him again and 23 years until he was regularly in my life again.(I have loved having him back in my world so much since then). It was also that year I put my faith in Jesus at a Sunday school outreach program. Putting my faith in Jesus and following him is the single greatest event that has influenced where I have ended up today. It has influenced so many of my life choices. It has influenced my marriage and how I raised my kids. It has influenced my work. I look at my life and where I am now and I can say with absolute conviction that Jesus has be the most influential person on my life and it is all because in 1982 I went to Sunday school. My life has had its fair share of ups and downs, successes and failures, good times and bad, but it been my relationship with God and my trust in Jesus as my Lord and saviour that has kept me going through everything. He is the reason that I have a wonderful marriage, great kids, a great life and so much more. Life is the journey that I am on and I know that there will be few more challenges along the way but Jesus has got me this far and I confident he will get me home. A year had a significant impact on my life, but one decision had even more. What will you say looking back at 2020?
