25.01.2022 Good afternoon all The committee is pleased to announce that we have a new sponsor for the next 45 weeks. Most members would already be familiar with Kay, Maddie or Shannon Sturzaker from Munchin on the 19th Hole by now, but to enlighten those less privileged Munchin On The 19th Hole provides the food service at the club on competition days including Wednesday, Thursday Twilight and Saturdays in addition to Friday evenings.... Burgers, Schnitzels, Soup sandwiches and rolls along weekly specials the range is ever increasing> I can vouch for the quality of the food and I have not heard anything but great feedback from fellow members and visitors alike. Kay would like to thank the club and its members for their support and has provided us with 45 vouchers, each voucher is for a free Burger meal on Friday evenings which includes 1 free drink from the bar. A winner will be drawn each Saturday from the players list for the next 45 weeks. Note the vouchers will have a 1 month expiry. I trust the winners find the time to redeem the voucher and support the club by taking a friend or partner along for the experience, you will not be disappointed. Kind regards Ian Holthouse On behalf of the NNGC

12.01.2022 Hello Members We have confirmation from Golf Australia that our database for the On-line timesheets is set up and we are expecting to have the activation links emailed out to each member next week. Each members username will be their full 10 digit Golf Link number and there will be a generic password for your initial login that would need to be changed.... We have some training to complete prior to implementing the system but we are still on track for a start date of Saturday the 3rd of October at the latest. We will confirm this start date moving forward. For those members who already have an OurGolf profile, Veterans for example, this will not change you will still login with your usual username and password but you will now have access to bookings for NNGC. We will provide further advice confirming the Activation Emails have been sent out and also confirming a start date, any questions let us know. Kind regards Ian Holthouse On behalf of the NNGC Board.

12.01.2022 Hello Members We the committee are looking to convert the BBQ area to a Golf Cart storage shed and we would like feedback from our members on the proposal. As it stands we feel the BBQ is a lost asset and the conversion to a cart storage area would provide an additional income stream to the club while also providing greater appeal to prospective members. ... The feeling is that the BBQ area in its current location only takes patronage away from the club , our stance has been that the BBQ area is not available for public use due to potential damage to the course. We have to acknowledge it is in a sensitive position that can only be accessed by travelling across the course itself and we are not prepared to take the risk with people that do not have an interest in the club and/or the course’s care. The BBQ area and its benefits are not lost on us however we feel there is an advantage in having it relocated closer to the clubhouse itself, there are a couple of locations that are appealing and could be adapted rather easily. This would still provide for the infrastructure we feel is required to make the course attractive to hire out for Golf Days while making it easier to facilitate the days and eliminate the heavy traffic that the course currently has to deal with. We would be looking to make a decision after receiving feedback from our members and if anyone would like to make a submission or have any questions or concerns please provide it in writing before Saturday the 19th of September by return email to myself or by mailing the club directly at [email protected]

03.01.2022 Good Afternoon members The board needs to take the time to clarify the clubs position in regards to playing in groups of 5 or more and drinking in the Car Park. Firstly groups of 4 is the maximum number of players in any group; groups of 5, 6 or more are not acceptable at any time during a club competition event. Players/groups found to be flouting these rules will potentially be subject to club sanctions such as the elimination from the competition. We acknowledge that at ti...mes there may be cause for groups larger than 4 players due to clear space on the course, friends and family wanting to play as one group etc however it is a hard rule to enforce and not one we can leave to the discretion of individual players or groups and we all can appreciate the frustration it causes when it has an effect on the flow of the field. The board is continually receiving complaints about this and it is starting to way heavy on some of our volunteers continually having to police the situation. Could all members please acknowledge the clubs position on this matter and if anyone has any concerns around this ruling please put it in writing via the Suggestion Book or email to any member of the committee and we will take the time to address any feedback received. We would also like to clarify our position in regards to drinking in the Car Park as it has caused some confusion due to it being seen as a blanket rule. The reason for the sign was due to issues arising during some functions where groups were found to be drinking large quantities of alcohol then re-entering the clubhouse. Not only is this is risk to our staff and premises but clearly not acceptable under our Responsible Serving of Alcohol requirements. This was not aimed at people carrying drinks through the car park after or prior to a round. We apologise for not clarifying our position or the reason for the sign being erected in sooner. Kind regards Ian Holthouse President [email protected]

02.01.2022 Hello members and happy 2021 We trust you all made it through safe and sound and found some time for family friends and some fun. Following comments placed in the Suggestions Book re Ambrose event rules it appears there is some inconsistency in the understanding of what rules we play to. It turns out the club does have a set of rules on file for this format but it appears we have detracted from them somewhat.... As a result the board has put the attached and updated rules together which will be the format for the next 3 Ambrose Competitions. We would like members feedback on how these work and any suggestions to improve and once that feedback has been received we will look to finalise the rules for the long term. Thanks and we look forward to receiving some comments on Facebook or [email protected] Kind regards Ian Holthouse President 4 PERSON AMBROSE COMPETITION RULES An Ambrose is a team competition where all the handicaps of each player in that Team are added together and divided by 8, 6 or 4 dependant on the number of players in the team. Each player hits off the tee, the best ball position is selected and marked, and all other players pick up their ball and place it within one club length alongside the best balls position. - The player whose ball is selected marks the position and MUST PLAY FIRST - Each person then hits the ball from within one club length of the marked position. - The ball can be placed at all times throughout the game. The best ball position is again selected after all the players have hit. The play continues until the ball is in the hole. On the putting green the best ball is marked and the other players balls are then played from next to this position, no closer to the hole. PUTTS CAN BE TAKEN IN ANY ORDER. During the course of the 18 holes AT LEAST 2 DRIVES FROM EACH PLAYER MUST BE USED. The Score Card should be marked with the initials of the player whose drive was used on that particular hole. - If you are in a Team of 3 players then a fourth putt can be taken. Each player can have 1 extra putt on 6 holes. - If you are in a Team of 2 players then each player can take 2 putts on each hole. - If you are a team of 4 then the combined handicap of all players is added together and then divided by 8 to arrive at the team handicap. - If you are in a team of 3 golfers then the combined handicap is divided by 6. - For a team of 2 players the handicap is divided by 4. Positives of Ambrose Events - It allows golfers of all standards to participate in the event without feeling intimidated by other players in their group who are possibly better than them - An Ambrose event promotes teamwork as every player has a chance of contributing towards the team score.
