25.01.2022 Thank you Tahlia!! Recently we had a student teacher attend Southern Vales as part of their studies, Tahlia loved SVCC so much she gave us this card with these lovely thoughts, and emailed us to let us know how much she loved being here ... "I had the most beautiful, enriching time at Southern Vales Christian School and felt so encouraged throughout the entirety of my placement. One of my favourite parts about my time spent at the school was how relational all of the student...s were - I found that the students, throughout all year levels, made continuous efforts to acknowledge and get to know me - which was wonderful. I think this can be attributed to the values of Southern Vales, as relationships are developed and fostered throughout all aspects of the school. One thing that I did notice at the school, that I value so much, is the encouragement between the staff members - I noticed them helping each other, whether it be relieving a duty, or preparing resources, and continuously lifting each other up. I particularly found Thursday mornings special, as the staff members pray for each other and their classes. SVCC a is light and love filled environment and I sincerely enjoyed my time, thank you for having me! See more

25.01.2022 Thank you Mrs Butler for sharing with us how Southern Vales students were involved with sustainability... On Tuesday November 10 we had 9 students from our environmental forum join with students from Galilee Catholic school, St Johns the Apostle, and Tatachilla Lutheran college to explore Galilee and participate in some of the sustainable and environmental practices that they have at their school. Students got a tour of the campus to see their frog pond, chicken coop, s...heok forest and cubby building, produce garden and secret garden and their natural lounge area. They got to get muddy looking for invertebrates in the wetlands and discovered how hard it is to survive as a herbivore in an environment when everything is out to get you in the Web of Life game. It was a hot day but all students had fun and were a great example for our college conducting themselves in a friendly and polite manner. One of the highlights was when Conan and James were able to present about the environmental projects our teams are working on for next year. We look forward to being part of the youth environmental forum next year.

11.01.2022 Mrs von Alpen shared some fun photos from her class today - here's what her Year 9s were working on... "Today, the Year 9s acted as 'travel agents' for our Geography class (concerning human geographies and interconnection). The task allowed them to appreciate the political, economical, social and cultural differences of another city from anywhere around the world of their choice. The students had a lot of fun doing this, and many teachers popped in and out to see how hard the...y had worked on theirs. Mrs Jenkins even had a fantastic idea whereby she had her Year 6s utilise this information and work on a smaller activity focused on what the Year 9s had taught them as they went around the room. It was a great, engaging lesson, to say the least!" Well done students who reminded us just a little of what our world looked like before COVID hit - with travel for most places now on hold, it was great to see all those amazing locations people love to visit.

" Before this HASS unit, I didn't know what Fair Trade and how our consumption of certain products can have a huge impact on other people's lives. Now I understand the importance of Fair Trade because I was educated on it". Rocklyn: " There is a misconception that Fair Trade chocolate is just about veganism, organic and expensive but after this activity, I realised that Fair Trade chocolate is about questioning the roots of capitalism in our society and whether they still work for us or not" Well done students for promoting a great cause.
