23.01.2022 As our church contemplates NAIDOC week, we remember its founder - activist and hero of the faith William Cooper. A Yorta Yorta man born in 1860, Cooper became a Christian in his twenties and campaigned his whole life for Aboriginal rights. He established a Day or Mourning for injustices done to indigenous peoples in 1938, which would later become NAIDOC week. He also introduced Aborigines Sunday, which was regularly observed in churches across Australia. May the Australian church of today hear Cooper's call for God's justice to be done. "I am still fighting on, and though disheartened at times I know God sees all, and that if we keep trusting him, he will see that we get justice." - William Cooper, 1940. You can watch a short Eternity News video about William Cooper here https://youtu.be/RnKR537612w

But sometimes, these just sound like empty platitudes.. But what does Bible say about this? ... Watch the full video at https://youtu.be/A_5UZrtcXyM

17.01.2022 AN INVITATION TO LAMENT... 2020 has united us in a 'collective grief'. We are all carrying the weight of losses, stresses and grief. We want to create a space to lament all these things together so that we might find hope and strength together. On Friday 20th November at 7.00 pm we will be running a short service of lament including readings, prayers, silence and some teaching on grief and hope based on the ancient psalms. Everyone is welcome.... Find out more, register for in-person attendance or watch the livestream at neac.com.au/service-of-lament/ "Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest" - Jesus

10.01.2022 There is nothing new under the sun" It was great to receive newspapers and pamphlets on St Stephen’s church, from a member of the public who had been collecting them for the past 40 years. In our current distressing year, we were particularly struck by the reflections of a minister at Christmas 1983: We have come to the end of the year that has had more than its share of distress the earthquakes in Turkey; the shooting down of the KAL 747; the almost daily horrors of life... in Lebanon, El Salvador, Northern Ireland, Uganda and a host of other places. The minister goes on to reflect on the hope that Jesus Christ offers even in unpromising circumstances. Circumstances much like ours in 2020. He said Things may look grim, but we're not giving up hoping. God hasn’t gone off and left us; He’s still there, more a part of our lives than it is possible for us to imagine. For the next 7 weeks, NEAC will be asking if there is any meaning to be found in this earth, and if there is any hope to be found in Christ. Join us online or in-person find out more at neac.com.au/Sunday/

07.01.2022 COME EXPECTANT We continue to make the most of the digital season but there's something special in being together as we invite God to speak to us and through us to each other. "You have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven." Hebrews 12:22... "So, as the Holy Spirit says: 'TODAY, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts'" Hebrews 3:7-8 "If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God" 1 Peter 4:11 http://neac.com.au/sunday

Right now we are also searching...disoriented in a season we couldn’t have written the script for. We need to find solid ground, something to give us meaning and hope. Join us this Sunday as we take up the pursuit of meaning and find how Jesus is able to speak into this moment a...nd all eternity. Join us on Sunday in person or online neac.com.au/Sunday
