19.01.2022 Latest ATO Scam We have been notified by clients who have received phone calls from scammers pretending to be the ATO, telling people that their tax file numbers have been suspended due to illegal activity or compromised by a scammer (ironic right?!). They request the recipient either pay a fine or transfer bank funds into a holding account to protect their TFN in the future.... The ATO does not suspend TFNs and will never request you pay a fine or transfer money to protect your TFN. If you receive a call like this hang up, do not provide information or money.
