16.01.2022 Today some of our team had the absolutely privilege of attending a workshop hosted by Rachel Callander & Nathan Maddigan We laughed, cried, discussed and learned our way through the workshop. We got to hear the story behind the Super Power Baby Project and Super Power Kids books, inspired by Rachel’s late daughter, Evie, who was born with a rare chromosomal condition and passed away after two and a half years of bravery and adventures We are so thankful to have heard Rachel’s journey and had the opportunity to learn how to continue best supporting our families.

16.01.2022 Talking about change openly with your child can be a really great way to help them process what's going on in the world. This is a lovely Playschool episode that talks about COVID in a child-friendly way, with an Auslan interpreter. Well worth a watch!

15.01.2022 This brilliant mealtime idea came from the Mum of one of Ashas mealtime clients. This Mum has been working with Asha on ways to talk about food with her son that take the pressure off eating it. He has Autism Spectrum Disorder, and fussy eating is super common with these kiddos. Instead of pleading with her son to take a bite of cucumber with the skin left on, she helped him marvel at the addition of dark green on these slices. Focusing on describing how the cucumber looked... and felt took the mystery and worry away from it being presented in a new way, and he ate it without giving it another thought! . . . . . . . #nextchallenge #nextchallengetherapyservices #speechpathology#language #perthparents #perthspeechpathologist #speechpathologyaustralia #slp #instaslp #fussyeater #autism #pickyeatingtips #feedingkids See more

15.01.2022 Would you believe us if we told you this was a mealtime therapy set up? Its true!! The goals here were: learning to eat more than one food together and developing skills in using kitchen utensils. We dont always choose healthy food in therapy. Why?... 1 Labels like unhealthy/naughty dont help kids learn how to explore a wide range of foods, which is what were all about! 2 We work by expanding from foods that the child is already good at, and then add something new. 3 Therapy has to be fun sometimes! . . . . . . . #nextchallenge #nextchallengetherapyservices #speechpathology#language #perthparents #perthspeechpathologist #speechpathologyaustralia #slp #instaslp #fussyeater #autism #pickyeatingtips #feedingkids

14.01.2022 Have you ever had this much fun with tomato sauce? This is Asha helping a client get closer to tasting sauce with a safe food (chips) using a pretend make up routine. The focus was on getting the sauce her lips and tongue without pressure to taste it Gotta do what you gotta do to keep kids engaged, especially over Zoom! . . . .... #nextchallenge #nextchallengetherapyservices #speechpathology #language #perthparents #perthspeechpathologist #speechpathologyaustralia #slp #instaslp #fussyeater #autism #pickyeatingtips #feedingkids @heinz_au
