21.01.2022 We had a lovely Father's week at Kindy! Dads were invited to come visit the Kindy for a play date to celebrate their special day. Some Dads played soccer, painted a beautiful artwork, built a cubby house, played in the sandpit and lots more. Thank you for visiting us Dads! We hope you enjoyed your time at Kindy. We honour and appreciate you!

19.01.2022 This week in room 2 we were Architects! We learnt that architects plan and draw buildings and bridges. During play time we planned, drew and built buildings.

18.01.2022 THIS IS THE BEST! Unfortunately, it’s often hard to discern what it is you’re correcting if you don’t slow for a minute and think before you speak. Let’s be slow to speak, quick to listen and slow to become angry.

16.01.2022 I really love this! How true to remember for our little people and not so little people!

15.01.2022 We have started talking about going off to ‘Big School’. We visited the Prep Classrooms! One of the biggest changes for the children will be the physical environment of the school. By visiting Prep we are able to help the children to have a smoother transition through familiarising them with their new environment and teachers. We have also been talking about how some children get to stay and play at kindy for another year, and how they will be such important special helpers at the start of the year!

15.01.2022 Last week, Ian the Bee Man visited the Kindy to talk to us about the native bees that we have. We learnt that there is a queen bee who can have up to 300 babies a day. Each bee has a different role in the colony. Some are cleaners, some are soldiers and some are foragers (they go search for pollen). Ian split our beehive and added a new box for the bees to store their honey in. Finally, he opened up the hive and we got to see all the new eggs and taste some of the delicious sweet honey which they had made.

14.01.2022 At Kindy we LOVE listening to stories! We know it's not always easy to find the time to read aloud with your children everyday. This is a great resource to help you on those busy days...... The Queensland Department of Education has partnered with Channel Nine to deliver reading@home TV to support language and literacy development for children in Kindergarten to Year3. https://www.youtube.com/playlist

14.01.2022 What a wonderful amazing tool our imagination can be! This is a great great podcast series of puzzling science questions from inquisitive young minds. Listen with your children and go on imaginative adventures to learn about the world around us and find the answers together.

14.01.2022 The children have been travelling around the world at Kindy and their latest destination was Italy. We spoke about what type of food we could buy in Italy and they decided to open a pizza shop. After brainstorming, what items we would need in our pizza shop the children set about making their very own wood fire pizza oven from a cardboard box which they decorated with coloured strips of paper to represent the fire. At the end of the week, we all really felt like eating some pizza so Ms Stevens made a pizza from scratch. It was loads of fun and so delicious!

09.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day to all of our beautiful NSK Mothers

08.01.2022 Camping day is one of our favourite days at Kindy! We started our day by making our own campfire. We then went on an adventure outside of kindy to collect sticks and rocks. We used some coloured paper for the ‘flames’. We had morning tea and lunch around the campfire! Yum! Camping is not only a fun activity, but it’s also very beneficial for children. Children learn and develop skills such as team work & bonding, as well as fostering an appreciation for nature & the environment.
